🌳Autumn Blaze maples are known for structural defects since they are a hybrid between red and silver maples. This hybrid doesn’t have the natural U shaped branching and instead has a V shaped branching structure that is more prone to develop infected bark.

Our team can reduce the risk of tearing by pruning your maple and other trees with structural issues. Tearing can open up the tree to more extensive damage during storm events, and larger wounding that doesn’t heal properly can allow for more disease and decay.

🌲If you have a dangerous tree near your house contact our ISA Certified Arborist to see if you should have it pruned or install a cabling system. Here is an example of a Hub and Spock cabling system which will help prevent tree failure.

🌻 Another successful week of projects for the EC3 team. We recently finished up a large storm water pond restoration where a 36 species custom native seed mixed was planted and soil stabilized with erosion control blanket. Crews followed with planting over 50 different species of native plugs.

🌱 Using native plants can be an excellent method for controlling erosion and maintaining banks of ponds. The deep root systems of native grasses and the spreading lateral roots of sedges are particularly effective at holding the soil and keeping it from washing away. All while benefiting and supporting a greater diversity and abundance of local wildlife and pollinators.
