NEW PROGRAM ALERT!
We are moving from our traditional 5v5 league for kids in Grades K-2nd to a 3v3 league.
This will be a 6-week session. Starting on December 5th
Players will do 45 minutes of a skill session followed by 45 minutes of 3v3 gameplay.
This will take place on Saturdays at the Madison Intermediate building.
Why 3v3?
* 3v3 is proven to increase touches, shots, handling the ball, passes, and rebounds.
* On average, players will touch the ball 1/6 of the time as opposed to 1/10 of the time in 5v5.
* Harder to defend: 3v3 is harder to defend than 5v5; it is more difficult to get away with poor defense, so players naturally have to have better help side and ball containment.
*The format teaches spacing, cutting, and communication, which are the same habits that win in 5v5.
* Players learn to cut, set screens, and move when they do not have the ball, because standing still kills the offense. Those off-ball habits are some of the hardest to coach in 5v5, and 3v3 builds them in naturally.
* The pace demands movement, and the short rotations keep players engaged. Just as important, quieter or less experienced players get real chances to contribute. A young player who rarely touched the ball in 5v5 often finds their confidence in 3v3, where every possession runs through them.
3-6th grade will continue to do a 5v5 season. They will play against Madison teams as well as Perry teams like in years past. Registration is now open for all grade levels until November 19th.
