Our first Middle Georgia School Food Pep Rally has raised funds to purchase food for more than 94,000 Backpack Meals. With 1 in 4 Middle Georgia children facing food insecurity, the impact of those meals is huge. Thank you to the seven school systems which participated in this project:

Bibb County School District
Crawford County Schools
Houston County School District
Jones County Schools
Monroe County Schools
Peach County Schools
Twiggs County Public Schools

And thank you to the more than 300 donors who have given generously to support our 32 partner agencies operating Backpack Programs.

Fight Hunger. Spark Change. | Campaign Wrap-Up

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the privilege of sharing stories from across Middle Georgia—stories that show what happens when Walmart and Sam’s Club partnerships meet community purpose.

Through the voices of our partners, we saw:

💙 Choice & dignity — families selecting the foods they need, not just receiving a box
💙 Speed & access — food moving quickly from Walmart stores to local pantries and into the hands of families
💙 Variety & nutrition — expanded access to protein and balanced meals through consistent retail donations
💙 Scale & reach — up to 30,000 pounds of food per week from Sam’s Club helping serve all 24 counties

These are more than stories.
They are the real, daily outcomes of strong Walmart and Sam’s Club partnerships, working alongside agency partners, volunteers, and supporters like you.

Because of these partnerships, food is reaching neighbors faster, farther, and with greater impact than ever before.

The trucks may be filled—but the need continues.

Thank you for helping us fight hunger and spark change across Middle Georgia.

👉 You can still make a difference—round up your change at checkout when you see the campaign sign at your local Walmart.

What a night! 🎭✨

Our Dress Rehearsal Benefit Performance of Come From Away, in partnership with Theatre Macon, was nothing short of FANTASTIC—and we had an absolute ball!

From the powerful storytelling to the shared laughter and emotion in the room, it was a beautiful reminder of what community looks like when we come together for an important cause.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who attended, donors, our incredible board member Jim Crisp, and to Richard Frazier for helping make this special night possible.

Because of YOU, as of today, we’ve raised $3,100—that’s 15,500 meals for neighbors across Middle Georgia facing food insecurity. 💛

Couldn’t attend? You can still be part of the impact with a donation:

Fight Hunger. Spark Change. | Community Impact Story

Featuring: Isan Sampson, Community Outreach Supervisor
Middle Georgia Community Food Bank

Behind every meal served across Middle Georgia, there’s a system—and partnerships—that make it possible.

For Isan Sampson, those partnerships are critical.

“Walmart is one of our largest retail donors,” he shares. “The more they donate, the more our partner agencies are able to serve their communities.”

That connection creates a direct pipeline—from store to food bank to local pantries—helping ensure families have access to food when they need it most.

And the impact doesn’t stop there.

Through our partnership with Sam’s Club, we’re able to scale that support across our entire service area.

“We’re picking up from Sam’s Club three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday,” Isan explains. “On the high end, we’re bringing in about 30,000 pounds a week, and that’s distributed across all 24 counties.”

That means every county we serve benefits.

“All of our agencies have access to these donations,” he adds. “That allows us to make sure every community is supported.”

💙 Because hunger doesn’t take a day off—and neither do our partners.

This is what it looks like when partnership meets purpose—fighting hunger and sparking change across Middle Georgia.

It's the weekend. That means some students may go from Friday until Monday without access to a balanced meal (like the one below provided daily by Student Nutrition Programs). Backpack Food Projects can fill the gap for the 1-in-4 children in our area who face food insecurity. You can help the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank fill those backpacks for the weekend with healthy, nutritious food by supporting the School Food Pep Rally. Several area school districts have joined this online fundraiser which runs through April 30. Follow the link below and choose one of 7 school district giving pages (found at the bottom of the page) to help. Every $1 will buy 5 backpack meals! Thank you!!!
