A Texas dad used his daughter's cell phone tracking feature to locate and free her after she was allegedly kidnapped at knifepoint while walking her dog on Christmas afternoon.

It all happened in the quiet Texas community of Porter, about 25 miles north of Houston. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the 15-year-old girl had stepped out for a routine walk with her pet when she was allegedly approached and grabbed by a man wielding a knife. Authorities say the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Giovanni Rosales Espinoza, forced her into a maroon pickup truck and drove her nearly two miles to a secluded, wooded area.

When the teen didn't return home, her father grew concerned and immediately accessed the parental controls on her phone to pinpoint her location. He alerted police and rushed to the spot himself, where he reportedly found his daughter and the dog inside the truck with Espinoza, who was described as partially n**e. The father helped his daughter escape and called authorities, leading to Espinoza's swift arrest.

Espinoza has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and indecency with a child. He is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail, as confirmed by sheriff's office records and multiple reports from local and national outlets.

Sheriff Wesley Doolittle praised the response in a statement, saying, "Christmas is a day meant for joy, but this man chose to shatter that joy by targeting a child." He added, "I am incredibly proud of our deputies and detectives who worked tirelessly to ensure this dangerous predator was swiftly apprehended and is now off our streets. Rest assured that your Sheriff’s Office remains vigilant every hour of every day to keep your families safe."
