Our American students would probably have a great time just hanging out with their friends, going to school, and living with their hosts, but every year the itinerary for their trip is planned by the parents of the Danish students who came to visit us the previous Fall.

This year's itinerary has been absolutely amazing. Our students are seeing a ballet today, followed by a boat tour of Copenhagen starting at one of the world's most picturesque places, and finishing with a farewell dinner.

This week flies past for those of us who are watching from home, and even faster for those who are on the trip. In 48 hours, their journey home begins.

Our Danish hosts have been absolutely fantastic, and have created an amazing visit itinerary. Today, students are attending school in the morning and then back in Copenhagen to visit Christiansborg Palace and Danish Parliament. Later, they will stop by Boulebar for a game of pétanque...more boule than bar for our group...😉

Our students learned something about the Danish national character yesterday when they visited this museum.

The story of Danish resistance against the N***s and the rescue of Denmark's Jews, a secret plan that was put together by the Danish people and executed within a matter of days in order to prevent transportation of those Danish-Jewish citizens to concentration camps, is nothing short of incredible.

Today our students have a cold day, and head to Roskilde to see a cathedral and the Viking Museum.

If you have participated in the program in years past (or present) as a student, a host, or a chaperone, drop us a line and tell us:

1. What year did you participate?
2. What did you love most about Denmark/being a part of 20+ years of grass roots international cooperation and friendship?
3. Would you recommend hosting/traveling/chaperoning to a friend?
4. What is your definition of hygge?
5. If you hosted, what food did your Danish students like the best, and where was their favorite place to shop in Macomb?

We are more than countries, we are people. Our group of American students and chaperones travels to Denmark on Thursday, March 6th, and returns on March 15th. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for hosting us, Denmark.

02/14/2025

The last meeting before we travel to Denmark on 3/9 will be this Sunday, 2/16, at 3 p.m. at City Hall. Chaperones and students traveling must attend. See you there!
