Saving America or breaking liberty?

“On January 8, 2026, the Heritage Foundation released “Saving America by Saving the Family,” a comprehensive policy agenda.

Among its most controversial proposals is a call for the restoration of “blue laws” to establish a “uniform day of rest” on Sundays.

Rejection of Flexibility: The report argues that a “uniform” day is required for communities to “cohere” (Page 38). It does not suggest allowing businesses to choose their own closing day.

God is not far from you — He is only one prayer away.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)

The Sabbath is a special gift from God — a time to slow down, stop striving, and rest in His presence. It reminds us that true peace is not something we have to earn, but something we receive from Him.

Sometimes we think the way to God is long. We feel we must first change many things, understand more, or become “better” before we can come close to Him.

But God’s Word shows something simple and beautiful: He is already near, and one step toward Him is enough.

Hebrews 4:16 reminds us that we can come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and help in time of need.

The Sabbath helps us experience this truth more deeply. It gently brings our hearts back to God’s presence, His peace, and His love.

Even when we feel tired or heavy inside, one honest prayer is enough — and in that moment, His peace begins to calm our hearts.

“The Lord is near to all who call on Him.” (Psalm 145:18)
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you.” (Psalm 50:15)

May this Sabbath bring you rest, peace, and a fresh awareness of God’s nearness.

📜 Ancient writing tells a Bible story!

Two kings mentioned in the Bible are also mentioned in an ancient cuneiform inscription!

This is the Sennacherib Prism, made in ancient Assyria around 700 BC.

In the inscription, the Assyrian King Sennacherib boasts of trapping King Hezekiah of Judah in Jerusalem "like a caged bird." You can read about this story in the Bible in 2 Kings 18–19.

The artifact was purchased from a Baghdad antiquities dealer around 1919 and is now housed in the Oriental Institute Museum at the University of Chicago.

But do you know how the story ended?

📖 2 Kings 19:32:
"Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there..."

📖 2 Kings 19:35:
"And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand..."

Later, Sennacherib was killed by his own sons (2 Kings 19:37).

Our God is the same today. He still wants to fight for YOU! If you are willing to obey Him and worship Him, He will take care of everything else.

The same voice that once walked in Eden speaks peace to your soul today.

The Sabbath calls our thoughts to nature, and brings us into communion with the Creator. In the song of the bird, the sighing of the trees, and the music of the sea, we still may hear His voice who talked with Adam in Eden in the cool of the day. And as we behold His power in nature we find comfort, for the word that created all things is that which speaks life to the soul. He “who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6. DA
