The U.S. is ramping up coal plant retirements! This year, power companies plan to retire 8.1 gigawatts of coal-fired capacity — more than double last year’s total. Even better? The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that 81% of new power capacity in 2024 will come from solar and battery storage. ☀️🔋

Cleaner energy is on the rise, and we’re here for it! 🙌

Several factors converged to make 2024 the hottest year ever, but two primary drivers stand out—fossil fuels and the El Niño climate pattern.

If you're feeling the winter chill already, you might want to check your insulation 🥶 The good news: The Inflation Reduction Act provides rebates and tax credits for energy efficient home upgrades. Learn more at cclusa.org/its-electric

👉 If you want to flip a few key votes on a pivotal climate bill, CCL is your best shot.

👉 If you want a nonpartisan group that Congress actually trusts, CCL is your best shot.

👉 If you need a climate group that knows how to work in a Republican-controlled Congress, CCL is your best shot.

CCL might be the only grassroots climate group that has the existing relationships in place on both sides of the aisle to protect the hard-won victories we’ve already achieved and to make bipartisan wins happen in 2025. But we need your help to do it. Help us reach our goal at cclusa.org/donate

Call us old fashioned, but we think Congress should listen to YOU 🤷‍♀️

Our lawmakers are elected to represent the interests of all of their constituents — not just the ones who donate lots of money.

In CCL, we help regular Americans learn how to talk to Congress about climate change, so your voice can have influence too: cclusa.org/join

Voting is one of the best (and easiest) ways you can protect our planet. Make sure you are ready to vote this election season by taking these 3 steps:

1️⃣ Make your plan to vote: Decide how and when you’re going to vote, whether it’s early, by mail, or in person 🤔
2️⃣ Check what’s on your ballot: Staying informed about candidates and measures that impact climate policy is key 🔑
3️⃣ Help others make their plan: Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to get ready to vote! ☎️

Every vote is crucial in making sure that local, state, and federal climate champions are the ones making decisions that affect our future. Learn more at: cclusa.org/vote2024 🌎
