Invitation to a Rally in Support of Victims of Drug-Induced Homicide.
Dear Families, Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Elected Officials, Members of the Media, and Concerned Citizens,
The Colorado Drug Induced Homicide chapter extends a heartfelt invitation to join us in solidarity as we rally in support of the family of Catherine, a victim of an unlawful delivery of a fatal dose of drugs. This gathering serves not only to offer solace to Catherine's loved ones but also to express gratitude to the Jefferson County District Attorney and the Lakewood Police Department for their unwavering dedication in investigating and prosecuting her perpetrator for Distribution Resulting in Death.
We cannot overlook the gravity of this occasion. We stand not only with one family but with all families who have suffered the devastating loss of a loved one to drug-induced homicide. Together, we send a resounding message to drug dealers and the broader public: the era of impunity for those who peddle illicit substances, leading to death, must come to an end. We refuse to tolerate the senseless loss of lives at the hands of those who profit from the misery of addiction.
Our rally is a critical juncture where our collective voices must be heard. We gather in support of Catherine's family during the sentencing hearing for defendant Brock Nieuwendorp. Regrettably, Nieuwendorp's case stands as a solitary example of justice served under the new distribution resulting in death law in Jefferson County, Colorado. This stark reality is unacceptable, especially in light of the staggering statistic: over 1000 reported illicit drug poisoning deaths since the enactment of this statute.
We urge all families and supporters of the Drug Induced Homicide Foundation to convene outside the main entrance of the courthouse located at 100 Jefferson County Pkwy, Golden, CO on March 14, 2024 at 8:00 am. Together, let us demonstrate our unwavering commitment to seeking justice for victims of drug-induced homicide and to holding those responsible fully accountable under the law.
In solidarity and remembrance,
Tricia Otto
