A reminder of why Lyme EMS volunteers train, prepare and stay ready came in real time during one of our recent monthly responder meetings at Hadlyme Station.
While our volunteers were gathered, a 911 call came in. Our on-duty crew, Heidi, Geoff and Keely, were on the move within moments.
They responded to assist a neighbor following a fall, provided compassionate care and safely transported the patient to the hospital for further evaluation. Thankfully, the fall did not result in a serious injury.
Moments like this are a good reminder that emergencies can happen anywhere, at home, on the trail, at work or out in the community. A fall, burn, cut or sudden medical emergency can quickly become a moment when knowing what to do really matters.
Because until help arrives, you are the first responder.
Thatās why community education is an important part of what we do. Our free, hands-on classes teach practical, potentially life-saving skills and help you feel more prepared to act when someone needs help.

Thank you to our volunteers who train and prepare so theyāre ready when a neighbor needs them, and to our donors and community supporters who help make that readiness possible. š
