Texas Tech RaiderThon

Texas Tech RaiderThon For The Kids! Our organization strives to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.

A growing tradition for Texas Tech! RaiderThon was founded in 2010 with the goal of providing hope for west Texas children and families by generating funds for Children’s Miracle Network. We donate money to support Children’s Miracle Network and their effort to provide quality healthcare to local children in need. Our local CMN hospital, University Medical Center, serves a 350-mile radius encompas

sing all of west Texas and a portion of eastern New Mexico.

Texas Tech’s RaiderThon is run entirely by students who volunteer their time and dedication to ensure the success of the organization. RaiderThon’s executive team works year round to fundraise, hold awareness events, and plan the marathon. The hard work culminates in a 8 hour marathon every spring. During the marathon, students choose to remain awake and standing for 8 hours in honor of those children who are unable to. Last year, RaiderThon donated more than $37,000 to our local hospital. On April 26, 2014, we will hold our fourth Dance Marathon in the TTU Rec Center. Our goal this year is $50,000! Students can register as individuals or teams on DonorDrive: http://www.helpmakemiracles.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID=1573

General information

About Dance Marathon: Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement, involving college and high school students at over 150 schools across the country who raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network hospital in their community. These students spend a year learning invaluable leadership and social skills while raising funds in a variety of ways and interacting with children’s hospital patients and families. The year culminates with a 12-36 hour long event where the students stay on their feet through dancing, games, and entertainment in order to celebrate the total amount raised that year. Why stay on your feet for that long? To quote the first Children’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon’s mission statement: “We dance for those who can’t.” It is this solidarity to and connection with the cause that makes Dance Marathon an event unlike any other. Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon was founded by students in 1991 in the memory of Ryan White. Since its inception it has grown to over 100 universities and colleges across the country. All entirely student run, all donating 100% of the funds they raise directly to their local children's hospital, Dance Marathons have become a tradition on campus and in the community. Year in and year out- students throw the biggest party of the year for the children at their local hospital. They stay on their feet for 12...24...36 hours in honor of children who have been through so much. They "dance" for those who can't. They do it For the Kids!
