You may recall this occurring but last week we saw the news that the record became official! On June 2, 2024, a supercell thunderstorm developed in Swisher County, Texas. A large hailstone was discovered beside the road by storm chasers who were tracking the storm. A committee of scientists from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US National Weather Service Lubbock Texas, Texas A&M Arts & Sciences, and Southern Regional Climate Center verified a new Texas hailstone diameter record of 7.1 inches.

📡 This is what WTP is all about.

West Texas Pathfinders is building a community focused on preparedness, communication, and real-world capability — not just talking about it, but actually putting it into practice.

In a world that relies heavily on fragile systems, having a reliable way to stay connected when it matters most makes all the difference.

Big thanks to Chad W. Seay for putting this together — great work! 👊

If you’re interested in learning more or getting involved, we’d love to connect with you.

🌧️ Rain in the Forecast? Don’t Forget the Mosquitoes. 🦟

With some rain expected this week in Lubbock, now’s a good time to take a few minutes and eliminate standing water around your home.

Mosquitoes don’t need much — even small amounts of water can become breeding grounds.

Take a quick walk around your property and check:
🪣 Buckets, flower pots, and containers
🚿 Gutters and downspouts
🐾 Pet water bowls
🚗 Old tires or low spots in the yard

Dump it, drain it, or cover it — it makes a big difference.

A little prevention now helps keep our community more comfortable and reduces the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses.

Stay safe, stay prepared, and enjoy the rain.

Ready Together. Stronger Together.

📡 West Texas Pathfinders Monday Night GMRS Net – Tonight

Join us tonight for the WTP Monday Night GMRS Net as we explore a topic that goes beyond just talking on the radio.

Tonight’s topic:
👉 “Analog vs Digital”

Most of us are used to voice communication — simple, fast, and effective. But there’s another side to radio that includes text, data, GPS, and messaging systems.

So the question is:

👉 When it really matters… which one works better?

Tonight we’ll keep it practical and real-world:
📻 When voice is the best tool
📡 Where digital communication shines
🧠 How using both makes you a stronger operator

We’ll also be talking about some digital capabilities we’re working on, including text and location sharing — and looking for folks interested in participating in future demos.

Whether you’re brand new or experienced, this is a great opportunity to learn, share, and grow your skills.

📻 GMRS Channel 20 Repeater

Every check-in helps build a more capable and resilient communication network for West Texas.

Get on the air tonight — we’d love to hear you.

Ready Together. Stronger Together.
