900 PEOPLE. ONE GROWING COMMUNITY. ❤️📻

We just reached 900 followers!

That number means a little more to us than a number on a screen.

Behind it are people discovering GMRS for the first time. New voices checking into our nets. Families learning about preparedness. Amateur radio operators sharing their experience. MeshCore nodes coming online. Volunteers serving our community. And people simply asking, “How can I get involved?”

Over the last few days alone, thousands of people have seen what West Texas Pathfinders is doing—and more of you keep joining us.

Welcome.

Whether you’ve been here for years or followed us five minutes ago, there’s a place for you in this community.

You don’t have to be an expert.
You don’t have to own expensive equipment.
You don’t even have to know where to begin.

That’s what the community is for.

🚒🚓🚑🚁 A lot more than fishing!

One of the highlights of this year’s Vamos a Pescar – Let’s Go Fishing was the Touch the Truck area, giving kids and families an up-close look at some of the vehicles, equipment, and people who serve our area every day.

From fire and EMS apparatus to law enforcement vehicles — and even AeroCare dropping in — there was plenty to explore.

Events like this give kids a chance to meet first responders in a completely different setting: ask questions, climb aboard, see the equipment, and maybe even spark an interest that stays with them for years to come.

A big thank you to all of the agencies and first responders who took the time to be part of the day and make it memorable for so many families! 🎣🚒🚁

🎣 What a day at Buddy Holly Lake!

The 17th Annual Vamos a Pescar – Let’s Go Fishing brought families from across Lubbock together today for fishing, activities, food, fellowship, and a beautiful morning around the lake.

West Texas Pathfinders had the opportunity to provide event communications throughout the day, but that also gave our volunteers a front-row seat to just how much goes into making an event like this happen.

Long before the first fishing pole hit the water, volunteers were setting up, organizing supplies, preparing activities, coordinating resources, and getting ready to welcome hundreds of families. And long after things got underway, those same volunteers were still working behind the scenes.

That effort showed.

Seeing Buddy Holly Lake lined with parents, grandparents, kids, and fishing poles as the sun came up was a pretty incredible sight.

A huge thank you to Los Hermanos Familia, their volunteers, sponsors, participating organizations, and everyone who worked to make the 17th year of Vamos a Pescar such a great experience for Lubbock families.

We’re thankful to have worked alongside you today. 🎣📻

🎣 Tomorrow is the big day!

Tonight, Buddy Holly Lake was already coming to life as volunteers gathered to prepare for the 17th Annual Vamos a Pescar – Let’s Go Fishing!

Flags are going up. Tents are being raised. Tables are being set. And behind every one of those things are people giving their time to create something special for families in our community.

West Texas Pathfinders was there tonight getting familiar with the grounds, helping with setup, and preparing for our role supporting event communications tomorrow.

We’ve said it a lot lately: strong communities don’t just happen. People build them. Tonight was a great example of what that looks like.

We’re thankful to work with Los Hermanos Familia and all the volunteers and organizations coming together to make tomorrow possible.

There’s a story behind every great community tradition. 🎣

With the 17th Annual Vamos a Pescar – Let’s Go Fishing happening tomorrow, take a few minutes to hear how it all began and why bringing families together remains at the heart of this event.

What started with a family’s story has grown into something that brings an entire community together each year. We’re thankful to work alongside Los Hermanos Familia and so many others who help make it possible.

Los Hermanos Familia will be holding a first responder vehicle showcase during the 17th Annual "Vamos a Pescar, Let's Go Fishing" event for its registered participants.
Participants of the fishing event will get a chance to meet first responders and see their vehicles up close and personal, including a police car, helicopter, fire truck, and more!
The purpose is to enhance the relationship between families and first responders.

It’s been a busy few weeks… and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Over the last several weeks, we’ve had the privilege of meeting many new voices on the air, growing our Monday Night GMRS Net, launching our new Simplex Sunday + MeshCore exercise, installing new MeshCore infrastructure, preparing communications equipment, training, and partnering with organizations that are making a difference throughout our community.

Every one of these photos tells part of that story.

Some people see antennas.

Some see radios.

Some see volunteers filling bags or preparing equipment.

We see people choosing to invest in their community.

That’s what makes all of this possible.

Whether you’re checking into a net for the first time, helping install equipment, supporting a community event, learning a new skill, or simply encouraging someone else along the way…

You’re helping build something bigger than yourself.

The momentum we’ve experienced lately has been incredible, and it’s because of every person who has decided to be part of it.
