Great resource to share more broadly to highlight a common issue: "union support" doesn’t always translate to long-term benefits for the local community. Instead, the data center projects often show a recurring pattern:

Temporary vs. Permanent Jobs: The vast majority of union jobs are created strictly during the short-term construction phase, rather than providing long-term employment for the area.
Outside Labor: A significant portion of these workers are brought in from outside the local community, meaning the economic boost doesn't actually stay local.

Building trades unions have long been considered a voice of the American worker. But they now are intertwined with the richest companies in the world as they create America’s artificial intelligence economy.

Tanner St- Recently, a member of the Department of Energy Resources indicated there is a shift in policy at the state house to make sure new and expanding data centers over 20MW bring their own power. Could this be what the power plant Markley acquired will be used for?

Infrasound, or audio with a frequency lower than 20 hertz, is all around you, but usually humans are incapable of hearing it.

Use of Public Resources:
Residents are facing a situation where state resources are being used to defend decisions that allow continued air and noise impacts in a residential community. While DEP is funded partly by taxpayer dollars, it is also funded through permit fees, compliance fees, hazardous waste generator fees, and other regulatory programs. Regardless of the funding source, the community deserves a process that prioritizes public health and environmental protection over the interests of an out‑of‑state company.

Hello, Sacred Heart and Back Central neighbors. The presence of Markley's armed guards on public walkways and patroling in their vehicles on the surrounding neighborhood streets raises important questions about public access, safety, transparency, and the overall impact on residents and families. Community awareness is essential to ensure that public spaces remain welcoming, respectful, and accessible to everyone. We deserve to feel safe walking on public sidewalks in our own community.

DEP Actions During Appeal:

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has entered into an Administrative Consent Order with Markley while an appeal is still pending. This raises serious concerns about fairness and transparency in the process. When residents file an appeal on a legitimate environmental matter, the agency should ensure that no agreement allows continued impacts on a residential neighborhood, a school, or a ballfield before the appeal is resolved.
Link is to the Administrative Consent Order. You will find it on page 10.

When backroom deals threaten our neighborhood, we must act.

A lawsuit by the Environmental Justice Law and Advocacy Clinic challenges the expansion of a 352,000 square foot data center in a residential neighborhood.
