The only reason you are happy is because you choose to be happy. Happiness is a choice, and so is suffering. Every thought you think impacts you. So choose thoughts that are positive and strengthen you. Even on our worst day there is always something to be grateful for, and at the very least remember it's just one day. The power we have in our minds will either cripple us with thoughts of pain and suffering, or it will set us free with thoughts of hope, love, and joy. The decision is yours and no one else's. Change your mind and you WILL change your life...live yourself, live in the moment and enjoy this beautiful day!!!

Why Is Trust Important in Recovery?

When people decide to go from addiction to recovery, one of the most difficult parts is learning to trust. This means trusting other people and yourself. When you’re in recovery, you need to learn to use your core values and trust your own judgment again. Sometimes, people forget they are able to make positive decisions for themselves because they get caught up in the drama of their addicted lives. This has to be overcome as part of recovery.

Why do we trust?

Trust is a belief in the truth, ability, reliability, and strength of someone or something. We feel safe and secure because we trust We don’t feel safe when we don’t trust. Author Charles Feltman outlines the four elements of trust that are the basis for trust in any relationship.

What is trauma?
Trauma is a person’s emotional response to a distressing experience. Few people can go through life without encountering some kind of trauma. Unlike ordinary hardships, traumatic events tend to be sudden and unpredictable, involve a serious threat to life—like bodily injury or death—and feel beyond a person’s control. Most important, events are traumatic to the degree that they undermine a person's sense of safety in the world and create a sense that catastrophe could strike at any time. Parental loss in childhood, auto accidents, physical violence, sexual assault, military combat experiences, and the unexpected loss of a loved one are commonly traumatic events.

Whatever the cause of your trauma and whether it happened years ago or yesterday, you can make healing changes and move on with your life.

Can a Person Change Once They’ve Done Something Bad?

There are many people who do bad deeds and, afterward, are branded as bad people. Now there are situations where people are justifiably branded as bad, such as for high acts of criminal activity. Although, even so, that’s a personal judgment call. However, what about the bad deeds on smaller scales?

After someone has done something bad, it is not fair to brand them as a bad person if they are willing to change. Everybody makes mistakes and can bounce back from their bad deeds. Once someone has done something bad, they should, if possible, be given another chance to do good. Why would someone deprive another person of the chance to change if they are willing to?

If a person is willing and able, they can change. If they have done a bad deed, if they have the drive and the will to change, they should at least be given the chance to show you.
