We are excited to return to the University of Kentucky campus as part of HOPE IN THE HALLS, a special event focused on mental health awareness, substance misuse prevention, and having conversations that matter.

I’m scared for our kids.

And this isn’t just about fentanyl.

What is happening to our kids, the ways they are being targeted, and how quickly the drug landscape is changing disgusts me.

For years, I was the person who thought, “Not my kid. Not my problem.”

Boy, do I regret that.

Because the truth is, our kids are being targeted. And we need to talk to them. We need to share the information. We need to educate them. And honestly? We all need the education.

Today, we remember Jack.

September 20th marks the 5th anniversary of Jack’s passing. For Steph and Tom, Jack’s parents, this day is a reminder of why they are so committed to educating others about the dangers of fentanyl.

Jack is not forgotten. His life, his smile, and his story continue to inspire the work of the DoItForJack Foundation and where we are taking this mission next.

We are inspired to create more education. To reach more students, parents, schools, teams, businesses and communities. To encourage conversations that may be uncomfortable - but are too important not to have. And to make sure people understand that fentanyl can impact any family.

Today, honor Jack by wearing your DoItForJack shirt and having a conversation.

Talk about fentanyl. Talk about the risks. Check in on someone you love. Share Jack’s story. Educate someone.

Because Jack’s story is still being written through every person we reach, every conversation we start, and every life that education may help save.

Jack is not forgotten. His legacy is our inspiration.

Ursuline Academy’s CAP (Community Athletic Program) and DoItForJack partnered to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl poisoning during the Ursuline vs. Mount Notre Dame varsity volleyball match.

Both teams wore DoItForJack T-shirts during warmups as a visible reminder of the importance of fentanyl awareness. Before the match, CAP and DIFJ students shared a message about the meaning behind the shirts and how education can help prevent fentanyl poisoning.

Thank you to the athletes, students, families, coaches and supporters who helped share this important mission. Together, we can spread awareness and help save lives.

Lizzie was 21.

I’m also an Advisory Board Member of the Do It For Jack Foundation and the current Chairman of Lost Voices of Fentanyl, the largest online community bringing together families who have lost loved ones to fentanyl, with more than 50,000 members.

I was honored to be invited to the White House and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building as part of Drug Overdose and Poisoning Awareness Week.

It was an incredibly emotional and meaningful experience. I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with parents from across the United States who, like me, have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child or loved one.

We also had the opportunity to visit the DEA headquarters, where I had the privilege of speaking with Gary Owen, Associate Administrator of the DEA.

I was able to tell him about the incredible work being done through Do It For Jack and the importance of keeping the voices of families who have lost loved ones at the center of this fight.

And yes… we even got Gary Owen to say the F-word.

That was a BIG ask. 😂

But in all seriousness, these moments matter. Every conversation, every story, and every person willing to speak up helps keep the focus where it belongs — saving lives and preventing other families from experiencing the loss we have endured.
