Our first event I can say was a success, a beautiful turn out. Met so many wonderful people. We were blessed to hear personal life stories. Heres to a great start for what we hope to accomplish and provide to our communities. Keep an eye out for more posts and events to come and help us, help others become !!! 💕🫶🏻

Our President and Chief Empowerment Officer, Elizabeth Martin, attended the kickoff event for a new domestic violence awareness organization called SonTia Strong Organization this weekend at Lindsay’s Kitchen. Founded in memory of SonTia Strong and Amia Cox, who lost their lives to domestic violence last summer at the hands of Strong’s partner, who later committed su***de, the organization aims to raise awareness about domestic violence, support survivors, and assist abusers in accessing mandated programs to break the cycle of abuse. Led by Sonya Parker, Strong’s mother, the organization hopes to implement statewide programs and more.

Help Us Grow. Help Us Heal. Stand .

Real change happens when people come together with purpose. SonTiaStrong is more than a nonprofit—it is a movement built on compassion, courage, and the belief that no one should face domestic violence alone. We are growing a community that supports survivors, educates the public, and works tirelessly to break cycles of abuse—and we invite you to be part of that growth.

There are so many ways to help thrive:

Join us as a volunteer, advocate, or community partner

Share our mission and help spread awareness where silence once lived

Support our work through donations, resources, or collaboration

Show up—at events, outreach efforts, and safe spaces across our community

Every voice matters. Every action counts. When you stand with SonTiaStrong, you are standing for safety, dignity, and hope. You are helping create pathways to healing and ensuring survivors know they are seen, supported, and never alone.

Together, we can grow this mission, strengthen our communities, and build a future free from violence.

Stand with us. Share our name. Be the change.

You’re Invited: Meet, Greet, and Stand Strong with SontiaStrong

We warmly invite you to join us for a Meet & Greet with SonTiaStrong—an evening rooted in connection, compassion, and the shared belief that our community can be a powerful force for change.

This gathering is more than an introduction. It’s a space to come together, to learn who we are, why we do this work, and how each of us plays a role in ending domestic violence. You’ll meet the hearts behind SonTiaStrong, hear our vision for survivor-centered support and prevention, and discover meaningful ways to stand with us—whether through advocacy, partnership, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness.

At SonTiaStrong, we believe healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and supported. Our Meet & Greet is an open door—welcoming survivors, allies, community members, leaders, and anyone who believes in safety, dignity, and hope for all.

Come as you are. Bring your questions, your passion, and your belief in a stronger future. Together, we can build safer communities, amplify survivor voices, and create lasting change.

Stand with us. Meet us. Grow with us.

Louisville, this is our call to stand together.

We invite our city, our neighborhoods, our leaders, and our everyday heroes to stand with SonTiaStrong in the fight to end domestic violence. This is not just an issue that happens behind closed doors—it is a community issue, and real change begins when a city chooses compassion, accountability, and action.

SonTiaStrong is here to support survivors, educate our communities, and advocate for safer, healthier futures for all. We are building partnerships, creating trauma-informed spaces, and amplifying voices that deserve to be heard—but we cannot do this work alone. Your awareness, your support, and your willingness to stand up matter.

As we grow, we ask you to look for our name and our logo throughout Louisville—at community events, partner organizations, outreach efforts, and safe spaces. When you see SonTiaStrong, know that it represents hope, protection, education, and a firm stance against violence. It is a symbol of solidarity with survivors and a promise that help is present.

Louisville, let’s be a city that chooses safety over silence, support over stigma, and strength through unity. Stand with SonTiaStrong. Share our mission. Wear our logo with pride. Together, we can break cycles, save lives, and build a community where everyone has the right to live free from fear.

A little bit about our back story.

On July 7, 2025, SonTia Simmons and Amia Cox lost their lives at the hands of LaBradford Ward due to a domestic violence tragedy that escalated. LaBradford then took his own life one week later. Their loss ignited a fire within our hearts to ensure that no one else is left without help, protection, or hope.
The SonTia Strong Organization is committed to changing the way domestic violence is addressed—through advocacy, survivor support, and community empowerment. We fight for laws that protect survivors, mandate therapy, and prioritize prevention before violence escalates.
We support survivors and their children by helping them escape abuse, find safety, heal from trauma, and rebuild their futures. While under our care, survivors are surrounded by community and offer classes and programs such as budgeting, self-defense, and vocational training to support lasting independence.

Our purpose is simple but powerful:
We help people survive—then we teach them how to thrive.

My name is Remmley, and I am honored to serve as a board member of SonTiaStrong, a nonprofit organization rooted in compassion, justice, and unwavering advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. At the heart of our mission is a simple but powerful belief: every person deserves safety, dignity, and the freedom to live without fear. SontiaStrong exists to uplift survivors, strengthen communities, and challenge the systems that allow violence to persist—while centering empathy, respect, and accountability in everything we do.

Through our work, we are deeply committed to non-discrimination and inclusion, ensuring that all individuals—regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, age, or background—are welcomed, respected, and supported. Survivor safety and confidentiality are sacred to us; we approach every interaction with care, discretion, and a trauma-informed lens that prioritizes autonomy, empowerment, and healing. Our programs are intentionally victim-centered, honoring each survivor’s lived experience while providing education, resources, and advocacy that foster resilience and self-determination.

SonTiaStrong also believes that prevention begins with education, collaboration, and ethical leadership. We actively engage in community outreach to promote healthy relationships and raise awareness, while partnering with agencies, nonprofits, faith communities, and healthcare providers to expand access to vital resources. Our volunteers and staff are carefully trained, our funds are used solely to advance our charitable mission, and our governance is guided by transparency, integrity, and strong conflict-of-interest standards. Even beyond our lifetime as an organization, our commitment endures—ensuring that all remaining resources continue to serve survivors and advance this critical work. Together, through SonTiaStrong, we are building safer communities, amplifying survivor voices, and creating lasting change—rooted in hope, accountability, and strength.
