Grit Like Britt

Grit Like Britt Cancer takes away a child's normalcy. It isolates them in hospital rooms for weeks. Video games give them that normalcy back.

They provide an escape, a connection to friends, and a spark of joy when they need it most.

Every console we deliver is a specific kid.

Not a donation line on a balance sheet. Not a tax receipt. A child in a room who has not been outside in weeks, who is watching their body change in ways they cannot control, who wakes up every morning not knowing what the day is going to take from them.

That kid gets a controller. Their favorite games. A headset so they can talk to their friends like a normal person.

That is the entire program. That is Grit Like Britt.

$300 puts a full console in one child's hands. gritlikebritt.org — link in bio.

Quiet truth about this foundation. We do not run on one big check. We run on a lot of people who chose to do something small that mattered.

The $60 sponsors. The $300 sponsors. The local businesses that covered a package in their company name. The families that donated in memory of someone they loved.

Every Game On package that left our hands in the last month has a sponsor behind it. A real person who made a real decision. That is who this community is.

If you have been thinking about joining that list, this is your sign. gritlikebritt.org.

This foundation runs on grit. Not just Britt's. Yours.

Every $25 power-up. Every share. Every person who saw a 19-year-old fight cancer and said — I want to stand behind that.

This week we had conversations with foundations from Louisville to Seattle. Every one of them asked about the community behind GLB. We pointed to you.

Thank you for being that community. If you have not joined yet, now is a good time.

Grit does not always look the way you think it does.

Sometimes grit is a kid who lost his season, lost his hair, and still picked up a controller to play one round with his friends because he refused to let the disease take that too.

That is the kind of grit this foundation was built on. It is the reason the name exists. Every Game On package that goes out is a small salute to kids who keep choosing joy in rooms that are trying to take it from them.

If that is the kind of fight you want to stand behind, stand behind it. $25 Power Up. $60 Game On. $300 Full Package. Link in bio.

Here is something most people do not know about gaming and pediatric cancer treatment.

When a child is actively playing a video game during a procedure, their pain perception drops. Their anxiety drops. The part of the brain that processes pain is occupied — by the mission, by the fight on screen, by something that is theirs.

This is not anecdote. It is documented in pediatric oncology research. Gaming during treatment is a clinical tool, not a distraction.

That is the entire premise of Grit Like Britt Foundation. We are not giving kids toys. We are giving them something to hold onto when the room gets hard.

$300 puts a full gaming console in a child's hands for their entire hospital stay.

$300 sounds like a number until you see what it becomes.

A full console. Controllers. A headset so the kid can talk to friends from the hospital. Games chosen for their age and what they are into. Packaged like a real gift, because it is one.

For a child who has spent weeks watching the ceiling of a treatment room, that box arriving is the first time in a long time the day belongs to them, not to the disease.

If your family, your company, or your small group has been looking for a concrete way to help a kid in treatment, this is it. One package. One kid. End to end.

Thank you.

To everyone who donated, shared, or showed up for Grit Like Britt on KY Gives Day — it meant everything.

Today we awarded our first-ever scholarship. Rory Ross, a soccer player from Christian Academy of Louisville who overcame real adversity, received $2,500 toward his future. That is what this foundation is for.

Britt started GLB because he knows what it feels like to be sick, scared, and fighting. He wanted no kid in a hospital room to feel forgotten. Today showed us this community agrees.

If you missed KY Gives Day, you can always support at gritlikebritt.org.

A few hours left on KY Gives Day.

This morning, we awarded the first ever Grit Like Britt Scholarship. $2,500 to Rory Ross — a student-athlete who played through adversity and earned it.

Britt beat cancer at 19, lost 80 lbs, fought through 6 surgeries and 4 rounds of chemo, and came back to win a state championship. He started this foundation so no kid fighting in a hospital room feels forgotten.

If today moved you, there's still time to donate at gritlikebritt.org.

KY Gives Day ends at midnight.

Last night, the first ever Grit Like Britt Scholarship was awarded.

Rory Ross, a student-athlete at Christian Academy of Louisville, received $2,500 — recognized for overcoming injuries and showing the kind of grit this foundation is named for.

Britt was 19 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Six surgeries. Four rounds of chemo. He came back and won a state championship. He built this foundation so the next kid fighting through something hard knows someone sees them.

Today is KY Gives Day. Your donation funds more scholarships like this one — and more gaming consoles delivered to kids in pediatric oncology units.

Every dollar goes directly to a kid who needs it.
