Today, we met with Senator Reggie Thomas of Lexington to discuss his proposed Senate Bill 33. We truly appreciate his openness and the thoughtful conversation about safety, confidentiality, and why these details matter in effective recovery housing.

As written, SB 33 included provisions that would have made recovery residence addresses a matter of public record. Senator Thomas listened to the concerns that led Kentucky’s recovery housing statutes to limit address sharing strictly to local government, law enforcement, and emergency services.

We are grateful he has agreed to amend the bill and remove the public-record language, so recovery residences can continue to make their own choice about whether to publicize their address.

Thank you, Senator Thomas, for partnering with us to support safe, ethical, and respectful recovery housing in Kentucky.

Informing Research Gaps:
Recovery Capital Insights from Emerging Adults and Families

Please help us spread the word about the Justice-involved and Emerging Adult Populations (JEAP)'s final forum, co-sponsored by the Collaborative Hub for Emerging Adult Research (CHEARR). This 90-minute virtual forum, Informing Research Gaps: Recovery Capital Insights from Emerging Adults and Families, will take place on Wednesday, February 18th, and will explore critical gaps in recovery capital among emerging adults and their families, featuring panelists with lived experience to offer invaluable insights.
Recovery capital refers to the internal and external resources that help individuals initiate and maintain recovery. Emerging adults have unique recovery needs, yet few studies focus on this population. This forum will feature panelists with lived experience who will explore what emerging adults wish they and their families knew about recovery capital and how family support influences recovery, providing researchers, providers, and community members with practical insights to inform future studies and recovery support services.
