TAF Update: Look at what love and healing care can do!

This innocent puppy had been starved, ignored, and abandoned with a painful skin condition that left her body and face hairless. Her owner(s) then decided to throw her out like trash--dumped on the side of a road to starve and die alone. Deemed “too ugly” and “too much trouble” for them care for--at only 6 months old.

We are so grateful for the Good Samaritan who found her and reached out to The Arrow Fund, knowing the pup’s only option in the Eastern Kentucky county where she was found was an overcrowded/underfunded shelter that had also run out of options to help her. She would be euthanized in days.

Because of your unwavering support for abused, tortured, and neglected animals you’ve never even met, The Arrow Fund was able to step in and save this pup we named Crostini.

Look at her one month later! The transformative power of love and amazing care she has received since becoming a part of our Arrow Fund family has enabled her to grow to a healthy 22lbs., heal well from her previously neglected skin condition, begin growing a coat of lustrous black hair, and learn that not all people should be feared.

Her inquisitive ears are now UP and hopeful, her eyes have begun to sparkle, and she is even trusting the world around her enough now to be playful!

Her wonderful Arrow Fund foster has been instrumental in helping her heal physically and begin to trust good people. “She is very sweet, healing every day, and adores Auggie [another foster dog].” Crostini is also doing great on leash walks and potty training is going well. Her foster mom said this young pup would probably love another playful dog in her new family.

She is still a bit shy of meeting new people, but that’s to be expected after the abuse she previously endured. She needs a forever person/family who will understand her past, and give her the consistent love and patience that every innocent puppy and animal deserves.

If you’re interested in this beautiful, small pup, please apply for her today:

𝐀 𝐇𝐎𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐑 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐒

Guardians has been getting many calls about dogs in locked cars in the heat, so we thought it was time to remind ourselves of this avoidable danger.

Every summer, dogs suffer and die after being left in parked vehicles — even when the outside temperature doesn't seem extreme. On a warm day, the temperature inside a car can climb to dangerous levels within minutes, turning the vehicle into an oven.

Dogs cannot cool themselves the way humans do. As temperatures rise, they can quickly experience heatstroke, leading to organ failure, brain damage, and death. Cracking a window is not enough to keep them safe.

It's always best to be prepared before you come upon an emergency. Know your local laws before you have to take any action. Laws regarding intervention vary by state and municipality, and understanding them can help protect both you and the animal.

If you see a dog in a hot car:
—Assess the dog's condition. Excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, collapse, or unresponsiveness are signs of an emergency.
—Try to locate the owner immediately by asking nearby businesses to make an announcement.
—Call 911
—Physically Intervene at your discretion and armed with knowledge of the law

The safest choice for a dog's human is simple: If your dog can't come inside with you, leave them at home.

Please share this message. A few minutes of awareness could save a life.

Together we save them,
