Educators need space and opportunity for real conversations about what’s working and what’s not.
Our union needs to work to make enjoying teaching our students our goal, not retirement.

In our union, I have served at every level - building rep and board member and serve as Chair of the Human Civil Rights Committee. I have attended our national and state leadership training programs.
It is time to let me be YOUR voice as President of JCTA.

I became a teacher after serving 9 years as a Kentucky public advocate, witnessing how poverty is criminalized and how PUBLIC EDUCATION is our most valuable tool to build stronger and safer communities.

What it means to be a teacher has changed over the years. There is a lack of respect for teachers from the students, parents, administrators, and even our own colleagues. Teachers are forced to compete for resources, for space, and for recognition instead of having opportunities to work together to build strong schools.

Our union needs to better address:
Lack of accountability for students
Teacher Burnout
Teacher Shortages
Academic Freedom

4 more days! Our JCTA Teaching and Learning Committee is seeking information on the curricula being implemented by JCPS. We are asking all teachers using the new curriculum to please respond to the survey below. Unless you indicate otherwise, your responses will be anonymous. Basic demographic information is being collected only to help us disaggregate data based on curriculum and grade level. Our focus is on EL and IM, but you may respond based on the curriculum you are currently using even if it is not EL or IM.
