Six months ago, 25 supervisors at UPS Airlines were chosen for their leadership potential. They embarked on a journey together to learn to lead better...in real time. What they learned on a Monday, they put into practice at work on a Tuesday, rather than learning theory and applying it later. And this week, they graduated.
Since 2023, UPS has had nearly 70 leaders participate in Altitude, the UPS Airlines Leadership Academy designed and led by LeadingBetter in coordination with Senior Leadership at UPS. (You can learn more about the program here: https://leadingbetter.com/blog/ups-leadingbetter-case-study/)
In a cohort of co-workers who understand their company's unique challenges, they moved through three phases together: Leading Self, Leading People, Leading the Business. It's also the kind of program where leaders form relationships that help them lead across the business when new challenges arise.
"Our leaders still keep in touch with either all or several of their cohort peers. It creates these long-lasting bonds. They have resources within UPS they can call to bounce things off of. As leaders, we all know how important that is." - Sharnika Glenn
And the numbers support it. Past cohorts have posted a 100 Net Promoter Score and a 19% average gain in self-assessed leadership competency, with facilitation and overall experience both rated above 9.8 out of 10. The results are the proof, but the people are the point.
Congratulations to the UPS Altitude Class of 2026. 🏆
