Want to help Water by Women reach more people in our community? We're looking for volunteers to help represent Water by Women at local community events!

In just a 2-hour Advocate Training, you'll learn everything you need to confidently share our mission, demonstrate our water filters, and connect with community members. No matter where you live, you can bring the Water by Women mission to your community!

People are always excited to see the filter in action, and community events are a great way to raise awareness, recruit supporters, and build community around our work. As a small team, we can't attend every event, but with Advocate Volunteers, we can expand our reach and connect with more people throughout the community. Thank you to our recent event partners Papa Johns Pizza Councilwoman Josie Raymond for having us!

Big news from Burkina Faso!

This past weekend, Water By Women Country Coordinator Bakary Doumbouya traveled to Burkina Faso to begin the next phase of a powerful collaboration made possible by the Louisville Youth Choir’s recent fundraiser.

Bakary trained Assita and her high school students in the Water By Women model, equipping them not only to understand the process -- but to teach it. These students are now prepared to become trainers themselves.

Next, they will begin working directly in the nearby refugee community of Tchinfagué, where families -- mostly mothers and children displaced by violence -- are urgently in need of safe, clean water. Through this training, they will begin preparing local women to become Water Women, leading sustainable water solutions within their own community.

What began as an interfaith connection across continents is now becoming local leadership, lasting impact, and real access to clean water.

🧦💙 Volunteers, we need your help!

Thanks to recent shipments heading to Kenya and Honduras, nearly all of the handmade filter kit socks and lanyards our volunteers created over the past few months have now been packed and sent around the world.

That’s incredible news, but it also means our supply is running low!

These handmade items may seem simple, but they make a big difference. Socks help protect water filters during transport and use, while lanyards help Water Women keep track of the cleaning syringe that is essential for maintaining their filter. Just as importantly, each one serves as a reminder that people they may never meet are cheering them on and supporting their work.

If you enjoy sewing, crafting, or would like a simple project to do at home, we'd love your help replenishing our supply.

Every sock and every lanyard helps us equip more Water Women with the tools they need to bring clean, safe water to their communities. 💧

Compassion in action 💙

Students at Dunn Elementary School are showing what it means to make a difference around the world through their school theme: Choosing Compassion.

On May 21, Dunn third graders proudly presented Melissa with more than 600 handmade lanyards/hang-up loops for water filters that will support Water Women in Honduras. These loops help women keep track of the cleaning syringe that is essential to maintaining their water filter — and each handmade piece serves as a reminder that people across the world care about them.

The compassion didn’t stop there. Third grade teachers Ms. Waller and Ms. Colston surprised retiring teacher Ms. Bhade with a meaningful gift: sponsoring a Water Woman in Honduras in her honor. What a beautiful way to celebrate a teacher who has made such an impact on her students and school community.

Thank you to the students, staff, and families at Dunn Elementary for choosing compassion and turning it into action that reaches far beyond the classroom. 🌎💧
