For this episode of Diabetes Unfiltered, I had the honor of sitting down with Dr. and Delegate Mark Downey, the doctor who diagnosed my brother with Type 1 Diabetes many years ago.
What started as one family’s life, changing moment became part of the reason I’m so passionate about advocacy today. Getting to hear his perspective, talk about early diagnosis, and reflect on how far awareness and research have come made this conversation incredibly meaningful.

Something so special in the Little Sisters program is seeing the full circle moments. 🩷

One of our Big Sisters was once the little girl looking up to titleholders, dreaming big, building confidence, and finding their place within this sisterhood. Now, they have the opportunity to pour that same encouragement into the next generation.

These moments become memories, friendships, and mentorships that last far beyond a single season. ✨

This cause is so close to my heart, and being able to use my voice to support the Type 1 Diabetes community means everything.

So excited to represent Hanover County as Contestant #26 and step onto the Miss Virginia stage! This journey has already taught me so much, and I’m beyond grateful for every moment leading up to June.

A little behind-the-scenes from life lately!

Between school, dance, appearances, interview prep, and getting ready for Miss Virginia’s Teen, this season has been full, but in the best way.

Preparation definitely isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it’s late-night rehearsals, sore muscles, a messy calendar, and trying to remember everything I need to do, but I really do love this part of the journey.

It’s busy, it’s exciting, and it’s making me even more grateful for the chance to represent Hanover County.
