We’re proud to welcome David C. Chavez as our speaker this week. A Belen native with more than 40 years of experience, David has built a career standing up for people when they need it most. Though recognized nationally, his roots—and his heart—have always stayed right here in our community. His firm has long supported our club, truly living up to the phrase “as local as red and green.” We’re looking forward to a great conversation.

BIG ENERGY. BIG IDEAS. RIGHT HERE IN LOS LUNAS!

We’re excited to welcome a very special group of speakers to our Rotary meeting on Tuesday, January 27th — Pacific Fusion.

Pacific Fusion is a cutting-edge energy company making waves across New Mexico and beyond, and Los Lunas is playing a key role in their story. They’ve chosen our community as home to a major manufacturing “build center,” where critical components will be created for a billion-dollar fusion energy project based in Albuquerque.

Fusion energy works by mimicking the way the sun creates energy — clean, innovative, and game-changing. Even more exciting, this is Pacific Fusion’s first time reaching out directly to our community, and we’re honored they chose Rotary as part of that introduction.

If you’re curious about:

🎓 Spotlight on UNMVC!

Our club recently heard from Dr. Sam Dosumu, Chancellor of the University of New Mexico–Valencia Campus. UNMVC provides affordable, close-to-home college opportunities, enrolling around 2,500 students through on-campus and online programs.

Chancellor Dosumu shared how the campus supports students and local businesses while keeping enrollment strong. Many students aren’t aware of programs like free tuition, making UNMVC’s outreach vital.

Our club proudly pledged support for several initiatives, and attendees enjoyed a weekend full of excitement, learning, and fun.

We are thrilled to be working alongside our amazing Interact Club on their current service project! It’s inspiring to see such a wonderful group of youth making a real impact and helping those in need in our community. This time, they were hard at work staining a ramp to improve accessibility for someone in need.

We are especially proud of one of our own Interact members, D.V., a junior at Los Lunas High School, who recently took home the top honor at the 2025 Valencia County Youth Leadership Awards. D.V. was recognized at a gala on September 19, 2025, at UNM-Valencia for his outstanding commitment to community service, first winning the Leadership in Humanitarian Work category and then being named Youth of the Year.

D.V. joined us at the service project and even posed for a photo with our Club President, Leyda Hahn—a proud moment for all of us.
