The world is not running out of explosive hazards. It is running out of easy answers.

New conflicts are creating fresh contamination. Older wars continue to leave landmines, unexploded ordnance, abandoned mu*****ns, and unsafe stockpiles behind. These hazards threaten civilians, weaken institutions, restrict economic recovery, and create risks that can extend well beyond national borders.

Why are we doing this?
Because effective humanitarian mine action and weapons and am******on management support a stronger, safer 🇺🇸 United States, our valued partners, and the global community.

Golden West Humanitarian Foundation is proud to be a 🇺🇸 U.S.-based nonprofit organization supporting American interests through practical capacity building. Working alongside partner nations, U.S. government funders, combatant commands, and local institutions, we help countries manage explosive hazards safely and independently.

We do not measure success by how long a country depends on us. We measure success by whether that country becomes safer, stronger, and more capable after we leave.

Our work supports stability, strengthens partners, reduces risk, and builds national capacity that lasts.

More than 80 years after World War II ended, its explosive legacy is still threatening communities across the Pacific.

On Mili Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands 🇲🇭 a dangerous variety of unexploded ordnance remain buried beneath beaches, hidden by vegetation and scattered around former wartime positions.

In June and July, a Golden West Humanitarian Foundation EOD team returned to Mili, working alongside local police, leaders and residents to locate and safely destroy 127 explosive remnants of war, more than 3.6 tons of hazardous ordnance.

But this mission was about far more than removing explosives.

It was about local knowledge, community safety, building lasting capability and helping address a wartime legacy that continues to affect daily life generations later.

Made possible through funding from the 🇺🇸 U.S. Department of State.

War ended. Explosives stayed.

Drowning prevention in Vietnam needs school support, as well as the support of families and local communities. Parents, grandparents, neighbors, local leaders, youth groups ... all have a role to play in keeping children safe around water.

Because most activities are school-based, people without children in school may have less exposure to drowning prevention messages. This is an important lesson.

Swim for Life is now studying ways to expand wider community engagement and reach people beyond the school system.

Golden West Humanitarian Foundation is proud to support 🇺🇸 U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and the 🇲🇩 Ministerul Apărării al Republicii Moldova (Moldovan Armed Forces) in realigning Am******on National Regulations in Moldova.

Over the past 18-months, this USEUCOM-led project has brought our teams together to develop comprehensive new national am******on regulations, helping establish the standards and procedures needed for safer, more accountable am******on management.

Most recently, the team completed an intensive 10-day workshop focused on reviewing and refining the initial draft regulations, an important step toward a framework that can support Moldova’s Armed Forces for years to come.

This work goes well beyond the immediate training environment. Strong national regulations provide the foundation for sustainable institutional capability, help embed international best practices, and support Moldova’s continued alignment with NATO standards.

Golden West has been proud to implement this initiative and sincerely thanks USEUCOM and our Moldovan Armed Forces partners for their continued collaboration, and trust. 🇺🇸 🤝 🇲🇩

This Sunday, on Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day, Golden West Humanitarian Foundation honors the mothers, fathers, spouses, children, siblings, and loved ones of U.S. service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Gold Star represents loss, service, courage, and a sacrifice carried not only by the individual who served, but by those who loved them.

As a veteran community, we understand how deeply military service shapes families, as well as those in uniform.

Today, we remember the fallen, and we stand with the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

From Senegal to Moldova, Zambia to Albania, Chad to Kosovo and beyond, Golden West Humanitarian Foundation is helping build safer, stronger national am******on-management capability.

Sometimes that means training instructors. Sometimes it means developing national regulations, assessing am******on depots, improving storage infrastructure or mentoring senior leaders.
The mission looks different in every country because genuine capacity building must reflect national needs.

What remains consistent is the objective: working alongside our 🇺🇸 U.S. Government partners and partner nations to transfer knowledge, strengthen institutions and develop capability that can eventually stand on its own.

Golden West is proud to attend the EOD Seminar in Rome, Italy, from 22–25 September 2026.

Representing the Foundation, Lee Moroney, Regional Director – Europe & Africa, and Chris Clair, EOD Training & Strategic Engagement Director, are engaging with like-minded technicians and professionals from around the globe, representing military, police, civil first responders, and industry.

The seminar provides a valuable opportunity to promote Golden West Humanitarian Foundation’s core competencies in EOD Training, Weapons & Am******on Management, and our exclusive Golden West Technologies, while sharing knowledge, exchanging experience, and exploring synergies with professionals united by a common goal: saving lives.

Having worked together in the past, Golden West would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Steve Cassidy at EOD Gear for providing Lee and Chris with the opportunity to attend this important conference.

On National POW/MIA Recognition Day, Golden West Humanitarian Foundation pauses to honor the American service members who were prisoners of war, those who remain missing, and the families who have carried their absence across generations.

For many within our veteran community, this remembrance is deeply personal. Our work in Cambodia and Vietnam has also given us the privilege of supporting missions connected to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the continuing effort to bring answers, and loved ones home.

We are proud to stand alongside those who continue this difficult and important work, and we remain profoundly grateful to the service members, families, veterans, and recovery teams whose commitment ensures that those still missing are never forgotten.

The blast may last seconds. The danger can remain for days.

Following the March 31 mu*****ns incident in Bujumbura, , Golden West Humanitarian Foundation’s Quick Reaction Force deployed in support of the Burundi National Defence Force.

This is a story about partnership, professional respect, technical exchange, and what successful capacity building should ultimately look like.
