Assyrian Arts Institute

Assyrian Arts Institute AAI exhibits the artwork of Assyrian artists that meet todays's international standards of quality.

The Assyrian Arts Institute (AAI) seeks to identify gifted Assyrian artists who are looking to showcase their talent in order to turn their artistic ambition into a successful career. AAI believes that through art, not only is recognition for the Assyrian culture realized, but it also becomes the fabric that connects Assyria’s deep historical roots to today’s world. At AAI, our pledge is to provid

e Assyrian artists the means to achieve greatness by giving them the opportunity to be mentored by world class role models and advisors who will teach by example. These hand-picked mentors are the epitome of excellence as their lives are a testimony of strong work ethics and passion for the arts. AAI’s mentors intend to instill in their eager pupils the same standards and expectations that made them world renowned artists. AAI is prepared to offer scholarships and grants for chosen and qualified artists who are accepted into its continuing education program. In return, AAI will use their talents as a platform to create opportunities to showcase ancient Assyrian arts, medieval, and modern Assyrian arts in order to encourage and empower the next generation of Assyrians to create their own art and continue the Assyrian arts legacy in the world.

Even the mightiest king is brought to his knees by the loss of one who gave everything in defense of his people.

In this photo, a scene from Gilgamesh: The Opera, King Gilgamesh mourns the death of Enkidu, who falls after confronting the Bull of Heaven to protect the kingdom and its citizens. His grief echoes across thousands of years, reminding us that the pain of losing heroes during war is timeless.

This Memorial Day weekend, we honor all those who stood courageously between danger and their communities; the men and women who sacrificed their lives so others could live in peace, safety, and freedom.

In every age, there are those who stand between danger and their people.

In Gilgamesh: The Opera, Gilgamesh and his soldiers rise in defense of their citizens; a timeless reminder of courage, sacrifice, and duty.

This is what Memorial Day is about: honoring the men and women who served, protected, and gave of themselves for others. We remember them with gratitude and respect.

A mother gives life to a child, and a child’s voice carries the nation forward.

Presented by the Assyrian Children’s Choir, this beautiful performance marks the first Assyrian song sung from the heart of children to their mother; a tribute to the women who preserve our language, culture, faith, and future through every generation.

Lyrics by Rabi Yosip Bet Yosip
Music composed by Sveenie Betsargis-Richmond

Long before empires rose and fell, Mesopotamian art already honored the sacred bond between mother and child. From ancient Assyria, Sumer, and Babylon came images of mothers as protectors, nurturers, and keepers of civilization itself.

This Mother’s Day, we honor Assyrian mothers; the women who carried not only children, but language, memory, faith, and identity through centuries of survival. Through every generation, they kept our nation alive.

From the cradle of civilization to today, the Assyrian mother remains the heartbeat of the nation.

On this upcoming Mother’s Day on Sunday, we are reminded of one of the most powerful moments from Gilgamesh: The Opera Premiere; when Ninsun, the goddess mother of Gilgamesh, encourages her son to embrace Enkidu as his brother.

Like so much true motherly wisdom, her words transformed the course of a life. Through Ninsun’s guidance, Gilgamesh began his journey from a feared tyrant into a beloved king whose humanity, growth, and legacy would endure for generations.

Mothers do more than give life. They shape conscience, compassion, identity, and the future itself. Today, we honor the Assyrian mothers whose wisdom continues to transform their children, and through them, our nation, and the world.

Empires rose and fell, borders disappeared, yet Assyria lives on. Why?
Because our stateless nation survives through its mothers.

Assyrian mothers give life to future generations, and preserve our cultural memory, language, and identity.

This Mother’s Day, we honor the women whose love keeps an ancient nation alive.
