Last Wednesday, West Suburban Fire District, working through the tools, techniques and teamwork required to respond to a serious school bus incident.

This type of training doesn’t happen in a classroom. It takes real equipment, real scenarios, and the willingness to put in the work before the call comes in.

Grateful for the resources and the people who show up to learn!

Training Day: Bus Extrication

This week, West Suburban Fire District firefighters got hands-on experience in one of the complex rescue scenarios we train for: bus extrication.

Using real equipment and realistic conditions, our crews practiced removing patients from a school bus involved in a collision. It’s technical, physical work that requires coordination, the right tools, and a clear plan.

We hope this training never comes into use. But if it does, our community deserves firefighters who are ready.

These guys took time out of their very busy schedules to attend the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Conference. It’s a great way to expand your knowledge and leadership skills while also an opportunity for some great networking with fire service leaders from around the state. Thanks for all you do for our department and communities.🚒👨🏻‍🚒

West Suburban Fire District is growing and we need the right person to help keep things running behind the scenes.

We’re hiring a full-time Fire Administrative Assistant. This role reports directly to the Fire Chief and touches nearly every corner of how we operate: board relations, budgeting, personnel, grants, and community communications. If that sounds like your kind of work, we want to hear from you.
