Armor Up Recovery Homes and Ministry

Armor Up Recovery Homes and Ministry We have two faith-based recovery homes in Longwood, FL, for women. My name is Angella Moore and I was once part of the opioid epidemic. NOW GO...and pass it on!

Our mission is to teach women how to live productive, effective and happy lives, and to help restore families and relationships. I am in long-term recovery from Substances, Love and Relationship Addiction, OCD, Anxiety, Depression and Codependency. What that means for me is that I no longer find it necessary to numb the way I feel with drugs, alcohol and people. I have dedicated my life to mentori

ng others during their recovery process by finding God's truth and will for their lives. The death toll, due to drug and alcohol abuse, are ever increasing and staggering. Not only is this a devastating statistic, but also, very personal for me. It has been part of my family and a part of my own story. My father died in his drug addiction and disease and just years later I too, was knocking on death's doors. But, I was given another chance at life. With my new life I now live to love, guide, serve and protect individuals walking their own journey of recovery. My purpose and passion is dedicated to the ministry of serving and loving others. I believe God has a special and great plan for all individuals and it is my hope through Armor Up, we can help turn a dominant drug addiction epidemic into a dominant recovery movement. I hope you will join our family in this turnaround movement. We don't want to shut the door on our past, but let God transform us and heal us through it.

German Meat Bingo Night at Hollerbach's... What a Night to Remember! Every Tuesday evening Hollerbach's German Restaurant hosts their German Meat Bingo Night, where a local nonprofit gets to be the beneficiary of the evening. This past week, that nonprofit was us!! We are so grateful for this event!

The room was full of laughter, good food, great people, and SO much love for this ministry. Watching our community show up the way you all did means so much. A huge, heartfelt thank you to Hollerbach's German Restaurant for opening your doors to us, for creating such a fun and welcoming atmosphere, and for making events like this possible for nonprofits in our community. What a gift you are to Sanford and beyond!

A very special thank you to Teri Siciliano at Ritz Theater Sanford for crafting two absolutely beautiful raffle baskets, we are so grateful for you! To all our friends who came out, THANK YOU. This ministry runs on the love and generosity of people like you, and nights like this remind us that God is always making a way. He is so faithful.

This is just the beginning... we have two more Hollerbach's Bingo Nights planned for later this year, so stay tuned!

Matthew, he was a timidly, polite man of God. He wanted prayer for strength, guidance, and direction. He had and has a purpose in life. I didn’t get to talk to him much, though since we had shoes with us, he was able to use a pair. Knowing that he knew who to pray to, and exactly what to pray for, I knew he was just down on his luck and living on the streets of Orlando. I don’t know much of his story other than just that he knew better to get prayer, and also to pray for his family, which blew me out of the water. I seriously believe that this outreach has changed me in ways I couldn’t change myself. I’d love to spend more time doing things like this. I’m sorry, Matthew, for such a short story on you, but man, you’re going places! Gods got you and I just know it!!

Douglas. He doesn't have a picture, but he has a face, a name, heart and soul. He was in a mental health crisis I believe and wanted prayer, he knew of God and knew He would save him of this endless search for an angel that he believed that the queen of England had died searching for. I know deep down inside that I for sure planted a seed and some hope in this man's heart and soul. I just pray, know, and believe that God will water it. A lot of times, we're all just on a search for something more powerful than ourselves, no matter what we do or don't struggle with. A lot of times, and I'm speaking from life experiences , that us with mental health issues are pushed to the side and not bothered with like we don't matter or as if were a burden to society. I know these things because I struggle with my mental health on a regular basis. The maintenance, medications, tools in my toolbox on how to life a life worthy of His calling and a life worth living etc.. Douglas had probably been one of those guys that have been feeling like a burden to society or just not fitting in at all. I totally regret not spending more time on the ground with him praying, and lending a listening ear wish I could go back. Jesus doesn't call the qualified, rather He qualifies the called no matter what, and we are all called according to His purposes. In Acts 3, with the lame beggar, I've heard many different versions of it and one of them was that he wasnt lame at all, his legs worked perfectly but his mind was a wreck. The beggar had psychological issues I heard once as a translation from a pastor. And it all speaks to me. And then again, at the water when the man was asked if he wanted to be well, in the bible. Douglas was confused and stressed, but he was willing to allow an unperfect stranger sit down with him and talk to and listen to him. Be aware of mental health, please. You never know who's struggling inside, it could even be you.

Please, pray for Douglas as you go on about your day. And don't forget to lend a listening ear to others. You never know what they (we) are going through and you might wind up pulling someone off the ledge.

Thank you Elizabeth for this beautiful testimony from our Backpacks in the Streets Outreach ♡

A Testimony of God’s Love in Action

Recently, my fiancée Patrick and I had the privilege of joining Angella Moore and all the wonderful women at Armor Up Homes and Ministries as we went out to serve the homeless in our community. We handed out backpacks filled with necessities we can often take for granted.

While we went to meet physical needs, God showed us that He was doing something much bigger.

As we walked the streets and met people where they were, I saw firsthand how much a simple act of kindness can mean to someone who feels forgotten and not only in need of supplies, but they were hungry for love, encouragement, and human connection. We listened to their stories, prayed with them, and reminded them that they are seen, valued, and loved by Jesus.

What moved me the most was seeing the gratitude and emotion on people’s faces when they realized someone cared enough to stop and help and listen. It reminded me that God often works through ordinary people like you and me.

I was reminded that ministry isn’t always behind a pulpit, sometimes it’s on a street corner, offering a snack, a prayer, a hug, or a listening ear.

And this small act of love was a response to the scripture that tells us to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34).

Seeing God move through such simple acts of compassion was a powerful reminder that when we step out in obedience, He can use us to bring light into someone’s darkest moment.

God used that day to speak to my heart as well. He reminded me that every person has value, every person has a story, and no one is beyond His reach.

I left that day feeling blessed, humbled, and grateful. What started as a mission to help others ended up strengthening my own faith.

I pray that the seeds planted that day continue to grow in the lives of everyone we encountered.

Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you dI’d for me.

I just wanted to start off by saying Our homeless backpack outreach was absolutely LIT! 🔥🙌
I went thinking we were going to bless others with backpacks, prayer, and encouragement, but once again God reminded me that I was the one being blessed.
Not only did I have an encounter with God, but I had an encounter with God’s children. I was able to see them through the eyes of Jesus and catch a glimpse of how deeply He loves and values every single one of them.
One encounter in particular will stay with me forever. I was called over to meet a woman named Donna—ironically, the same name as my roommate here at Armor Up. Donna was pregnant, just like I am. As soon as I met her, I felt God calling me to pray for her. There we stood, two women carrying two innocent lives growing inside of us, connected by a moment that could only have been orchestrated by God.
In that moment, I felt like I was part of something much bigger than myself. I felt like I was serving in the Army of the Lord—a soldier being called into duty. Not because of anything special I had to offer, but because God chose to use me as His vessel.
I asked Donna to close her eyes as I pleaded the blood of Jesus over her and her baby. I prayed that God would make a way for them, guide every step of their journey, and bless the little boy she hopes to name Dominic. I prayed for abundant health, financial provision, stability, protection, and a bright future for both mother and child.
As I opened my eyes, I could feel the Holy Spirit moving in the air around us. It was a feeling I hadn’t experienced in a long time—so powerful, so undeniable. In that moment, I knew God had called me there for a reason. This encounter was not a coincidence. It was not an accident. It was a divine appointment.
God knew exactly where Donna would be. He knew exactly where I would be. And for a brief moment, our paths crossed so that His love could be revealed.
Last night reminded me that ministry isn’t always behind a pulpit. Sometimes it’s on a street corner, holding a backpack, saying a prayer, and allowing God to love His children through you.
What a privilege it is to be used by Him. ❤️🙏
Thank you Armor up for allowing me to be apart of your tribe and putting mentors in my path that teach me how to pray for myself and others

On Monday, June 8th, Angella will be speaking at a special meeting hosted by Call To Action Team Against Human Trafficking in Oviedo. Angella will be sharing her personal journey through addiction and what led her to open Freedom House and Victory House.
This event shines a light on something many people don't realize: addiction and human trafficking are deeply connected. Studies show that over 84% of trafficking survivors used substances during their exploitation. That's why the work we do at Armor Up, helping women heal from addiction, is also part of the fight against trafficking.

Everyone meet Louie !!

Today God reminded me that kindness still matters.

Today was one of those moments that stays with you forever.

My friend Donna was actually the one who spotted a man sitting behind a tree. Without hesitation, she walked over to him alone just to check on him and speak to him with kindness. I remember looking around wondering where Donna had gone, and then I noticed her talking to a man in the distance. As I got closer, I suddenly realized who she was speaking to. While Donna was gently asking him what his name was, I walked up and said, “Louie?”

I used to work with Louie at Denny’s years ago, and seeing him homeless honestly broke my heart. I remember him as one of the hardest workers there — always showing up, always helping others, always carrying a good attitude no matter what he was going through. The kind of person who worked with integrity even when nobody was watching. Life can change so quickly for any of us.

Today I got the opportunity to bless him with a backpack filled with love — essentials, comfort, and a reminder that he has not been forgotten. But truthfully, I think he blessed me more than I blessed him.

As I handed it to him, I couldn’t stop thinking about how easy it is for the world to overlook people once they fall on hard times. But God never overlooks anybody.

Sometimes we look at people struggling and only see their current situation, but God sees the person underneath it all — the worker, the friend, the father, the human being deserving of dignity and compassion.

Today was one of those moments that humbles your heart and reminds you how important it is to love people where they are

Life has a way of changing people’s circumstances in ways we never expect. One season someone can be working right beside you, and another season they can be fighting just to survive.

Please remember: homelessness does not erase someone’s worth. Some of the strongest, kindest people are carrying battles we could never imagine.

Before this event happened, I had been struggling with feelings of inadequacy and questioning myself. I kept wondering, “What would I even say to people out here hurting?” But God is so good and so intentional with His plans for us. He already knew exactly what this moment would be before we ever got there. He provided the exact person and the exact words Donna and I needed to speak to him.

I’m grateful God allowed us to be a small light in someone’s dark moment tonight. I pray that backpack carried more than supplies — I pray it carried hope, love, and the reminder that someone still sees him, still believes in him, and behind every homeless person is a story, a life, a heart, and often someone who once worked hard, loved deeply, and dreamed big.

Today I’m grateful God allowed us to be a blessing to someone who once showed up and worked hard alongside me all those years ago. Kindness costs so little, but to someone hurting, it can mean everything.
