🚨⚠️ SCAM ALERT — PLEASE SHARE! ⚠️🚨

ATTENTION ANIMAL RESCUES, SANCTUARIES, NONPROFITS, AND OUR FOLLOWERS!

Feathers of A Flock wants to warn everyone about a potential donation overpayment scam targeting organizations like ours. We got the check by Fed Ex yesterday and deposited it last night. We called the Bank this morning and put a hold on the check after getting this email! Spoke to the fraud team at our bank this morning, sent them our email conversation and all our documents.

Here is what happened:
We received an email claiming that a $4,000 donation check was mistakenly issued when the intended donation was only $2,000. The sender requested that we refund the extra $2,000 immediately by wire transfer.

🚩 HERE ARE THE RED FLAGS:
❌ A donation check for more than the promised amount.
❌ An excuse about an accounting error.
❌ Pressure to return the difference quickly.
❌ A request to send money back by wire transfer.

⚠️ PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF! A check can appear to clear your bank and still turn out to be fraudulent. If you send money back before the check is verified, you could lose that money yourself.

❤️ OUR ADVICE TO OTHER RESCUES AND NONPROFITS:
• Never send money back simply because a donor asks you to.
• Do not spend or refund questionable funds.
• Contact your bank using its official phone number and explain the situation.
• Ask your bank to verify the check and advise you on the next steps.
• Save all emails, attachments, checks, and messages as evidence.

We are sharing this to help protect other organizations and prevent hardworking rescues from losing money intended for the animals in their care.

Update:
Yetta is 28 year old male- his weight is 946 gram which is great. He has a Sinus infection and infection. He on clavamox for the next 10 days.

Symba is 49 year old Female- her weight is 1079 gram which isnt good. She should be 1200 grams, her left wing where her 4 fingers should be was amputated. This wasn't done by the owner we picked up from, this was done by the person before. It was legal to do this once upon a time to keep your bird from flying away. Which is soooo cruel and heartbreaking. Also sinus infection.

Ipo is 27 year old- s*x unknown. Weight is 947 grams which is great. Sinus infection also but have bruises over the body, we will keep an eye on them and if they dont heal with in the next 3 months. We will need to check if she/he may have cancer.

Right now, they are getting extra yummy treats and today they got their first shower! No one ran, screamed or freaked out! They sat there taking a nice warm misting shower, once dried they got to go outside to the aviary and soak up some vitamin D.

Not only did we do a big recuse today but we rescued this little lady too.

Her owner has had her for 20 plus years but the last 5 years hasn't been able to handle her. She called us and asked us to come and pick her up, lucky we had bolt cutters cause she lost the key. We ended up cutting the bolt and having to towel wrap her to get her into the carrier.

We took her to one of our board members house, since we are getting full, she agreed to take her and work with her. Lucky for us, she had 9 Africa Grey's and works wonders with them.

Man today was crazy and long!

Meet polly the African Grey! Yes she still part of our sanctuary but for right now staying with our board member to be worked with. We will be paying for her vet bill and food while she staying to get some extra love and rehabilitation

First, let me apologize. I have not posted in a while, I been very busy and a little stressed.

We got a call 3 weeks ago about these babies, I explained am getting full and I didnt have the room at the moment for such a big recuse. Let me rephrase that, I do have the room but saving spot for people I already promised a spot too. Anyways, she explained to me that she had 5 macaws at one point and this recuse came and took only 1 out of 5 of her macaws, find out it was a Catalina macaw that they took because it was the worse one at the time. When they wanted to come get the rest, she told them that she was thinking about keeping them.

Back to the 4 macaws she had left, 2- blue and gold, 1- greenwing and 1- scarlet. She had them all in a shed outside, last year the power went out during the winter and 1 ended up freezing to death. The other 3 survived the winter lucky but she knew they wont survive another winter.

She called many rescues reaching out for help, everyone told her they were full. Not sure if she reached back out to the first rescue that picked up that 1 macaw. She was told about us and got ahold of me and explained everything, we knew we had to help the parrots and her.

Please do not pass judgment on her, she had her hands full with her sick dying mother who just passed this week plus her own heath issues. Yes its still no real excuse in some people eyes but at least she reached out for help.

These babies are sick and in quarantine until we can get them in this week, they are wheezing and clearly sick. Most likely from living in that condition, eating insulation and the amount of p**p on the floor.

Got the Quakers room cleaned today, took me about 3 hours but finally done. Had to pressure wash all the cages lol.

I been super busy and slacking on making goodies, one of my volunteers stepped up for me.

She made amazing parrot cookies for the babies. Thank you Natasha Bagshaw they loved it!
