A safer night made room for another step.

Deborah describes entering treatment and continuing the work of recovery. This is her own account of one part of that journey.

The morning transition matters to the people leaving shelter and the neighborhood starting its day.

How do we plan for both?

At the October 8 Longview City Council meeting, our Executive Director explained why Love Overwhelming requested a later morning transition as businesses and schools began their day.

Care for people and responsibility to the neighborhood belong in the same plan. The operating details are where we put that into practice. We believe that Empathy and accountability can co-exist and work together.

Before the next step, Deborah needed somewhere safe.

In this archival clip, she describes what it meant to have a place to stay warm without fear. Her story brings the purpose of emergency shelter back to a person, a night and a chance to keep going.
