If you’re walking Lake Sacajawea today, your coffee stop can do more than give you caffeine. It can help a local family get clean laundry.

Each month, we receive more than 100 requests for laundry and shower services, and the need continues to exceed the resources available.

So we’re doing what we’ve always believed in: creating opportunity, not just meeting a need.

Some of the individuals we serve are participating in workforce development programs. As part of that journey, we help create opportunities for them to display and sell their own artwork, and they keep 100% of what they earn.

At the same time, our Laundry Love Longview team is selling ice-cold brew coffee, with proceeds helping fund laundry services for local families, including families with children.

So if you’re:

• Walking around Lake Sacajawea
• Driving through the neighborhood
• Looking for a cold coffee
• Interested in some locally created artwork
• Or simply looking for a practical way to help your neighbors

Stop by and see us.

We’re right next to Longview Community Church and across the street from Lake Sacajawea.

Come check out the artwork. Purchase some art work. Grab a cold brew. Meet some people.

A cup of coffee might seem small. But together, small purchases become clean clothes, dignity, opportunity, and one less burden for a family in our community.

Heat + Smoke Resources & Event Cancelled.

No severe weather shelters will be opened for cooling or smoke relief however…

If you are trying to find relief from the extreme heat and wildfire smoke in Longview this week, here are the exact free resources available to you right now.

The Longview, Washington - City of Longview is providing the following alternatives:

Fare-Free Transit: RiverCities Transit buses are completely free to ride for the next two days, providing an air-conditioned environment and safe transport.

Public Library: The Longview Public Library is open to the public as a designated location to cool down and escape the poor air quality.

Public Facilities: Various other indoor public spaces across the city remain open for individuals needing immediate respite from the outdoors.

National Night Out: Cancelled Tonight 8.4.26

Due to the heavy wildfire smoke and hazardous air quality in the area, the Longview Police Department has officially canceled tonight’s National Night Out event.

This step is being taken by the City to prioritize the health and safety of attendees, volunteers, and participating organizations. (See attached screenshot from LPD).

We know there are people in this community who consistently look out for the well-being of their neighbors.

If you want to help, simply share this post so others can notice how fast they can find a safe space today.

🎒 THIS SATURDAY — Help Local Students Start the School Year Strong! 📚✏️

More than 600 local K-12 students are counting on our community to help them head back to school with the supplies they need to succeed.

Join Lower Columbia Indivisible and Ethnic Support Council this Saturday August 1st, from 10AM – 1PM at Fred Meyer and donate school supplies or make a cash donation to support the Youth & Family Links Back to School Fair, in partnership with Red Canoe Credit Union's Fill the Canoe School Supply Drive.

Every backpack filled is a child who can walk into the classroom feeling confident, prepared, and ready to learn. ❤️

Together, let's make sure every student has the opportunity to start the school year with the tools they need.

In Loving Memory of Pastor Cole: Doing What We Can, With What We Have

If you want to leave a legacy that truly changes a community, you don't need perfect conditions. You just need to look at the life of Pastor Cole.

Life is full of unexpected twists, turns, and heartbreaking realities, and we were deeply saddened to hear that Pastor Cole recently lost his brave fight with cancer.

Today, our entire team at Love Overwhelming are sending our deepest condolences,
prayers, and good vibes to Cole’s family, friends, Gather family, and everyone he touched.

Whenever our team had the privilege of being around Cole, we left feeling blessed and encouraged. He didn't just talk about community… he lived it.

We wholeheartedly agree with the Gathering’s beautiful devotional titled, “Legacy.”

Cole was a true guide for so many of us, modeling what it looks like to live generously and love without limits. As an organization, we want to share this reminder of his impact… not just to mourn an unexpected loss, but to celebrate a blueprint for how we can all live better.

Our Hearts Are Heavy for the community in the City of Longview, Washington.

We are grieving with our community today and standing alongside the employees, families, and everyone impacted by the tragedy at Nippon Dynawave.

When something like this happens so close to home, it is not just news. It is our neighbors. It is our friends. It is people who went to work, and people waiting for answers.

To the first responders and all those continuing to serve in this incredibly difficult situation: we are profoundly thankful for your dedication.

Today, our heroes are the workers and their families. They deserve our respect, our compassion, and our quiet support. May every family affected feel the unwavering care of this community around them.

If your family receives food assistance in Longview, Kelso, Woodland, or anywhere in Cowlitz County, something important is happening this May.

Federal rules are changing how food benefits work in Washington starting May 2026. Some families will be moved to a new program automatically. Some may see their monthly amount go down. And some adults will go through a new work requirement screening at their next eligibility review.

The most important thing to know right now: missing your eligibility review is the fastest way to lose coverage. Make sure DSHS has your current address so you do not miss their notices.

We broke it all down in plain language on our blog so you know exactly what to expect and what to do now that May is here.

If you know someone in Cowlitz County who receives SNAP or food benefits, please share this post with them. A lot of people will not hear about these changes until it is too late.

Sharing this takes two seconds and could protect a family's access to food.
