More than just a meeting, it was a reminder of what happens when people come together with the same purpose: creating better opportunities for kids and stronger communities for everyone.

We shared ideas, stories, and inspiration that continue to move our mission forward.

That’s what Kiwanis is all about. Neighbors, leaders, and community members working together because when we’re all in, kids win. 💙

Throwing it back to a wonderful Thursday morning at The Lazy Lobster with the Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key.

We had the privilege of hosting Fire Chief Paul Dezzi for breakfast, and it turned into such an inspiring conversation. From lifesaving emergency response to the behind-the-scenes disaster preparedness that keeps our island safe, it was a powerful reminder of the work being done every single day.

With over 40 years of service, Chief Dezzi’s dedication to protecting our community truly stands out. We’re so grateful for him and the entire Longboat Key Fire Rescue team. Real-life heroes, every one of them.

We had the pleasure of hearing from Chief Russ Mager, Chief of Police for the Town of Longboat Key, who shared valuable insights on keeping our community safe. With nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience—including serving as Chief of Police in Delray Beach—his leadership and depth of knowledge are truly impressive.

His focus this morning on elder abuse awareness and protecting residents from scams was especially important and timely. Education and vigilance are key, and we’re fortunate to have such a community-focused leader looking out for Longboat Key.

Grateful for his service and for the opportunity to learn more about how we can all play a role in keeping our community safe.

For $20 for adults and $12 for children, guests can enjoy a hearty breakfast that includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, plus bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, coffee, hot or iced tea, juice, and soft drinks.

Looking to add a little extra to your morning? You can enjoy the Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar for a $15 donation, which includes 2 Bloody Marys, or try the Kiwanis Sunrise for a $7 donation, a refreshing brunch drink with a tropical twist.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Family Promise of Sarasota-Manatee, supporting children and families who need safe, stable housing.

When Kiwanis switches things up, good things happen. 🌅🥂

We’re trading our usual breakfast routine for sunset cocktails by the beach and you’re invited to be part of it. Join us this Thursday at Zota Beach Resort for a relaxed evening of refreshing drinks, meaningful conversations, and community connection. Bring a friend and enjoy Longboat Key at golden hour.

Then, we’ll gather again on February 5th at the Lazy Lobster for a special Lawn Party wrap-up breakfast. We’ll celebrate the success of our Lawn Party, welcome a special guest, and present the net proceeds to the Children’s Guardian Fund. Breakfast is included, and everyone is welcome.

Two events. One purpose. A great way to experience what Kiwanis is all about.

• Tara Maffei, Executive Director of Family Promise of Sarasota-Manatee, sharing how they help families experiencing homelessness move toward stability and housing

Family Promise is also the recipient of proceeds from our Pancake Breakfast and our Sip & Shop at J. McLaughlin.
