Robert Smith's dreams began as a boy, because his father was one who believed in reaching your dreams. O.C Smith, (Robert’s father) sang the famous song, which won a Grammy Award, Little Green Apples. Robert was born blind, and he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and blindness was not going to stop him. His question was, “How do I do that”? His answer came thru his dad’s song Little Green Apples.
Robert’s first step was to co-create The Little Green Apples Project. This non-profit has a mission to do or inspire intentional acts of kindness without any expectations. Robert has stepped over million steps to accomplish part of his mission. Last year Robert with a guide, walked 450 miles from Long Beach, California to Las Vegas. (He even walked over parts of Death Valley.) Robert was able thru 4 Paws For Ability to secure a pup to be trained to assist a child with severe autism and diabetes. Robert also did free concerts for Veterans as he neared Las Vegas and throughout the towns and cities he passed thru he distributed over 500 Doopalpoops - Sock Puppets With A Purpose to schools, medical facilities and those who he met on the street. Every step he took, he shared kindness and felt the smiles in their hearts.
Robert also has picked up other talents along the way as progressed. Four years his first visit was The Filed of Dreams Movie site, where he thru a perfect pitch. That experience opened doors in the minor and major baseball teams, where he either sang The National Anthem or pitched the first honorary pitch in baseball parks across the country. Robert has also learned to drive a race car, has driven dune buggys, and his big thrill was at Speed Vegas. He was in a Lambergini that traveled over 140 MPH.
Robert is beginning to do speaking engagements and sharing his story. Robert is totally blind, but Robert has 20/20 vision of the heart. Feel free to contact Robert for speaking engagments or special events. He loves being involved in communities. Who knows? Maybe your’s is next?
