Yancey/Edgley Fellowship Continuing Dr. Antronette Yancey's legacy through promoting and supporting students of color in seeking graduate training in public health.

The Antronette (Toni) Yancey and Darlene Edgley Fellowship for Health Promotion, Physical Fitness and Community Education whose primary focus is to enhance diversity in the field of public health by providing financial support to practitioners of historically underrepresented racial groups in completing doctoral training which engages underserved populations and creates solutions that address heal

th disparities using physical fitness and other health promotion strategies. Below is an overview of the eligibility criteria for applicants considering applying for the Yancey Edgley Fellowship financial award:

1) Public health doctoral (DrPH) students from historically underrepresented racial groups enrolled full-time in an APA-accredited doctoral program; or
2) Demonstrate financial need. In addition, candidates who have demonstrated a strong commitment to pursuing academic interest in the following:
• Issues of obesity and related chronic disease prevention which are addressed through small bouts of physical activity (e.g. Instant Recess®), community-appropriate, and user-friendly strategies;
• Working to improve the health prospects in underserved communities and minority populations; and
• Community-based participatory research. A full description of eligibility and application instructions will be made available on: July 20, 2015.
