The Santa Ana Unified School District Nutrition Services is now sponsoring a design competition for its Eco-Friendly truck “La Trokita Verde”. This vehicle will be visiting high schools within the district and other local events to drive awareness of the new plant-based meal options now on the menu. This school district is setting the standard for school lunches and other climate-friendly initiatives. Please give them a follow and show your support!

Please join us (a group of 15 non-profit organizations) LIVE (link in bio), tomorrow at 12:30 Eastern time as Billie Eilish, Maggie Baird, Tracye McQuirter (10,000 Black Vegan Women), Genesis Butler (a real-life Marvel Hero), and Eloisa Trinidad join Representative Nydia Velazquez and Congressman Jamaal Bowman for a Congressional Hill Briefing to advocate for the Healthy Future Students and Earth Act — a bill to provide funding for pilot programs to expand plant-based school meals.

Equity: Having no plant-based options at schools can mean going hungry at schools — especially for students who rely on free school meals.

Climate Change: If every public school swapped out a beef burger for a veggie burger just once a month, it would save 1.4 billion pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

Health: Studies show increasing consumption of plant-based foods has substantial health benefits, can boost academic performance, and address educational inequities.

Thank you for helping with this post 🙏🏽

The Santa Ana Unified School District in Southern California is setting the new standard for school nutrition! The district recently announced that plant-based meal options will be offered daily at all high schools. Additionally, they are driving awareness of their new plant-based offerings by investing in a plant-based meal truck that will travel from school to school. This is the future! ❤️🌱🌎

We are excited to announce that we have been chosen as a Community Grant recipient from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies!

The Plant-Based Kids Foundation is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization based in Long Beach, CA, that strives to bring plant-based meal options to school menus in Southern California. Currently, the greatest barrier to schools not offering plant-based meals is the perceived low consumption of such meals and thus, nominal government reimbursement. Our organization works with school districts to mitigate this fear by offering its services in three areas: recipe development (curate tasty meals with optimal nutrition and lead focus groups to ensure student approval), marketing (drive excitement and awareness), and the education of the new plant-based options (tap into our network of nutritionists and medical experts).
