We invite you to join us by filling out the MANAH Outreach Project Zimbabwe Mission Trip form below.

About the MANAH Project
The MANAH (Maternal, Antenatal, Nutrition, and Adolescent Health) Outreach Project was initiated to address the barriers faced by rural adolescent girls and women in Lupane districts in accessing comprehensive maternal and nutritional health services.

Lupane, located in Matabeleland North, is a region where maternal and child health outcomes are heavily influenced by environmental and economic factors. While Zimbabwe has made significant progress in national health tracking, districts like Lupane face unique challenges, including risks of undernutrition, food insecurity, and the need for better access to diverse, nutritious diets for pregnant and lactating women. Research shows that maternal nutritional status, social support systems, and access to timely health information are the most critical factors in ensuring healthy birth outcomes and early childhood development in this area.

According to the WHO Trends in Maternal Mortality 2000–2020 report, approximately 800 women died daily in 2020 from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Similarly, the United Nations Population Fund Zimbabwe highlights that complications during pregnancy and childbirth remain leading causes of death and disability among women of reproductive age.

By merging new practices with traditional knowledge, we seek to support women in the Lupane district and restore their maternal and antenatal health capabilities. This effort will leave a sustained legacy of empathetic, empowered, and effective health and hygiene behaviors in the community. We believe every stage of womanhood should be a positive experience, ensuring women and children achieve their full potential for health and well-being.
