We are proud to recognize Lone Star Rotary e-Club member Dr. Teta Banks, who will participate in the upcoming international forum, “Toward a Sustainable United Nations,” hosted by the U.S. Council of Organizations.

The virtual forum will bring together leaders, scholars, and advocates for a timely discussion of the future of the United Nations as it approaches its 80th anniversary. Topics will include international treaties, human rights, the UN Security Council, the selection of the next Secretary-General, the UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, and opportunities to strengthen the United Nations for greater future impact.

Dr. Banks serves as Chair of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of United Nations Associations and continues to represent the values of service, leadership, and global citizenship that are so important to Rotary.

We congratulate Teta on her continued leadership and are proud to have her as a member of the Lone Star Rotary e-Club.

The Lone Star Rotary e-Club isn’t your grandfather’s old Rotary Club.

We are an online community of Rotarians committed to Service Above Self, both today and in the future. We bring together people from different communities, professions, and backgrounds who believe Rotary still has an important role to play in connecting people, developing leaders, and serving others.

And because we meet online, geography doesn’t have to get in the way.

Our club meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month at 6:00 p.m. Central Time, and our meetings are open to Rotarians and guests.

So if you’re already a Rotarian looking for another way to stay connected, follow along.

If you’re curious about Rotary and want to see what an e-Club is all about, follow along.

If you’re looking for a community of people who still believe service, fellowship, leadership, and relationships matter, come check us out.

Join us online. Follow us. Share our programs. Get to know us.

And if you’re reading this post, please consider it a personal invitation to join us for an upcoming meeting.

You don’t have to know anyone.

You don’t have to be a Rotarian.

You have to log in.

Service Above Self. Online. Connected. And moving forward.

One small sugar cube. One very long line. And every kid in that gymnasium understood exactly what it meant.

Our parents had watched neighbors lose children to polio — had seen the iron lungs, the leg braces, the empty desks. So when that nurse held out that little white cube, you opened your mouth without being asked twice. No argument, no hesitation. The sweetness on your tongue was the taste of something your generation would never have to fear again. Science and sacrifice had bought you that moment, and the adults in the room knew the price.

We come from a generation that understood what it meant to be protected — because we remembered what it meant not to be.
