💜 **Celebrating National Recovery Month & Recognizing Natasha Marcum!** 💜

Heartstrings Mental Health Community Outreach would like to take a moment to recognize **National Recovery Month** and celebrate one of our very own, **Natasha Marcum**!

Natasha serves as part of our **Community Health Team** and is a valued member of the entire **Heartstrings Mental Health family**. Today, Natasha has **well over two years in recovery**, and the growth, determination, and accomplishments she has achieved since beginning her journey are something worth celebrating!

Recovery is about so much more than counting days. It is about rebuilding, growing, learning, finding purpose, and continuing to move forward one day at a time. Natasha is living proof that change is possible and that a new chapter can be written.

Natasha stated, “Recovery gave me back my life. I faced the pain, broke cycles, and learned that my past does not define me. Every day, I choose to keep going, keep growing, and be the woman I was meant to be. I am not simply surviving; I am living.”

We are incredibly proud of Natasha, not only for how far she has come, but for the way she now uses her experiences, compassion, and strength to help others in our community.

Please help us celebrate **Natasha Marcum** and all those who are walking their own recovery journey! 💜

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, Heartstrings Mental Health Community Outreach takes time to remember the lives lost, support those still struggling with substance use disorder, and recognize the families and loved ones who carry these losses every day. 💜

Today, we especially honor the life and memory of Matthew Ryan Gibson. May Matthew be remembered for the life he lived, the people he loved, and the place he continues to hold in the hearts of those who knew him.

This post and Matthew’s photo are being shared with the permission of his wife, Allison Gibson, and we are grateful to her for allowing us to help honor his memory.

Heartstrings Mental Health Community Outreach proudly gives acknowledgement to this important day and stands beside every individual and family impacted by overdose and substance use disorder.

Remember. Honor. Hope. 💜
In Loving Memory of Matthew Ryan Gibson

This September, the Heartstrings Community Health & Outreach Team is honored to recognize Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month in a very personal and meaningful way. 💜🩵

On September 8th at 10:00 AM, we will come together virtually for a special Continuing Education Hour with our own Jason Connelly, CCHW, held in loving memory of his mother, Susan Connelly.

We are deeply grateful to Jason for being willing to share from such a personal place in hopes that his story may bring greater awareness, compassion, understanding, and hope to others. This hour is more than a training. It is a time to remember a life, honor a family, and strengthen our commitment to su***de prevention and awareness.

If you would like to join us for this virtual discussion and training, please comment your email below or contact [email protected] for information on how to participate.

In loving memory of Susan Connelly. 💜
May her life be remembered with honor, and may her memory continue to inspire compassion, awareness, and hope.

This week, the Heartstrings Mental Health Community Health Team had the privilege of attending the KYACHW Conference 2026!

Our Community Health Facilitator, Tonya Bowman, CCHW, had the honor of representing Heartstrings as a speaker, sharing “A Day in the Life of a Community Health Worker.” Savannah Proffitt, CCHW, and Natasha Marcum, CCHW did a wonderful job representing our team during the poster session and presenting our team’s design. While the team attended the conference, Jason Connelly, CCHW stayed behind to continue meeting the needs of Heartstrings clients and serving our community.

We also want to congratulate all of the deserving recipients of this year’s three annual awards: Outstanding CHW, Extraordinary CHW, and CHW Champion. We are especially proud to recognize Tonya Bowman for being nominated in all three award categories—an incredible honor and reflection of the teams dedication to community health work.

Amazing community services are happening every day at Heartstrings, and we invite you to come see for yourself! We are proud of our team, proud of the work being done, and grateful for every opportunity to serve our community. 💜
