I had an insightful tour with Chief Rick Sanders at our local fire station. We discussed how every second counts in emergency response—because as we say in the hospital, “time is tissue.” My early experience as an EMT showed me firsthand the critical need for fast, effective EMS services. Quick response times can mean the difference between life and death for our community. Let’s continue to back our local emergency services for a safer Lombard.

In my career as a physician, I have witnessed the devastating impact of the opioid crisis—losing many young lives, including friends from high school. While there’s no perfect cure for addiction, it’s reassuring to know our EMS teams are on the frontlines with Narcan, ready to reverse overdoses in critical moments. We must continue to support initiatives that help save lives and prevent these tragic losses.

Here’s what I stand for:

It’s essential that our police work hand-in-hand with the community. I support initiatives that encourage open dialogue, mutual respect, and regular community meetings so that everyone can hear the challenges both sides face.

•⁠ ⁠Accountability and Transparency:
Our officers deserve the support they need to keep us safe, and our community deserves clear accountability in how public safety policies are enforced. Together, we can implement systems that build trust on both sides.

•⁠ ⁠Enhanced Safety Programs:
Investing in programs focused on crime prevention, mental health, and youth engagement will create a safer environment for all residents. These initiatives can reduce crime and improve the overall quality of life in Lombard.
