It's Pollinator Week! 🐝 Bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, and even hummingbirds are quietly powering Utah's food system and wild landscapes. About one in every three bites of food we eat depends on a pollinator and many of Utah's native plants would disappear without them. This week, we're sharing simple ways farmers, ranchers, and homeowners can support pollinators. Save this post and follow along!

🚜 Emergency Haying & Grazing Opportunities Available

Producers in eligible counties may be able to utilize Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres for emergency haying and grazing when drought or forage losses impact operations.

County eligibility maps and resources are updated weekly and include information on emergency haying and grazing opportunities, eligible practices, and program requirements.

If your county is not currently eligible, non-emergency haying and grazing provisions may still be available outside the primary nesting season.

Before initiating any haying or grazing activities on CRP acres, contact your local USDA Service Center to discuss available options and ensure compliance with program requirements.

πŸ„πŸπŸŸ Did you know the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP) provides financial assistance to producers who experience eligible losses due to disease, adverse weather, or other qualifying conditions not covered by other USDA disaster programs?

ELAP helps livestock, honey bee, and farm-raised fish producers recover from unexpected losses and continue their operations.

πŸ“… Important Reminder:
The deadline to file a Notice of Loss and submit an Application for Payment is March 1 following the program year in which the loss occurred.

If you believe you may qualify, contact your local USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) office to learn more about eligibility requirements and application procedures.

πŸ₯› June is National Dairy Month! πŸ„

Utah’s dairy producers play an important role in feeding our communities while caring for the land and water resources that make agriculture possible. Conservation practices help ensure that dairy operations remain productive, sustainable, and resilient for future generations.

This month, we recognize and thank the hardworking dairy farmers, conservation partners, and agricultural professionals who help keep Utah’s dairy industry strong.

Join us in celebrating National Dairy Month and the dedication of those who provide nutritious dairy products while being stewards of our natural resources.
