This is Nina Marie. I wanted to share this because it made my day ❤️.
Being an Alternative School teacher for over 20 years is not an easy job. I often hear people say, "I don't know how you do it." I often think, why am I putting myself through this? Then, I have a moment like today ❤️.
I noticed a student seemed off all day, so I asked if he wanted to talk a few times throughout the day. At the end of the day, I tried one last time.
We have a great relationship, so he agreed. We talked for about 10 min, and he was 100% honest w/ me. What happened next, made my day, week, month and reminded me of my WHY.
He said he appreciated how I always listen. He said he knows all of the staff cares about him and the other students, but I am different. He can tell by the look in my eye and the way I move that I will do anything I can to help ease their struggles if they will let me in.
Not going to lie, after the last few weeks, I needed this conversation probably more than he did.
We ended the talk with a quick hug, tears in both of our eyes, and a plan.
