Friends of Lake of the Woods

Friends of Lake of the Woods FLOW was created to help raise funds to meet the changing needs of the LOW community.

FLOW was created by a group of civic-minded Lake of the Woods property owners who believe it is essential to enhance and improve association infrastructure, amenities and facilities to meet the changing needs of the community without raising HOA dues. As a charitable organization—501(c)(3)—FLOW raises funds through tax-deductible donations, fund-raising events and projects. Let your generosity flow by donating, volunteering, or sponsoring an event.

HELP BRING WATER TO OUR DOGS!

The Happy Tails Dog Park Club has just finalized its Memorandum of Understanding with the Lake of the Woods Board of Directors and is moving forward with its approved FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN with FLOW to bring potable water to the Dog Park! The water will be used to keep LOW pups hydrated, and to keep the dog park grass green.

Watch this space closely for updates, but for now you can help the effort by donating on our MAKE A DONATION page at www.friendsoflow.org/donate/.

FLOW welcomes donations through our secure PayPal account or by check. If funding an ongoing project, please indicate which project you are funding by clicking on “Add special instructions for the seller” (i.e, Dog Park) when you donate. Checks made payable to FLOW may be mailed to:

How General Admission Seating Works:
General admission seating is located along the sides and toward the back of the room. Some of these seats are still quite close to the front, and all seating is first come, first served, so arriving earlier will give you more options.

The Equestrian Center is happy to introduce just a few of their scholarship recipients! Congratulations to Ellie Beliles, Hope (Zulu) Beliles, and Micah Beliles are pictured below with the approval of their guardian. “Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion.”. – Ralph Waldo Emerson. ... Let's hope this is the beginning of a grand passion!

The Equestrian Committee will continue offering riding lesson scholarships to students interested in horses and learning how to ride this fall. Deadline is October 6, 2023. Students will learn balance, coordination, perseverance, and courage. Riding is a wonderful outdoor sport but can be expensive and consequently not available to everyone. Qualifications: Applicants (ages 7-18) must have parental approval, live in the LOW community, and complete an application that includes a paragraph on why they want to be selected. Participants will be selected (based on need
and interest) by a rotating working group of three Equestrian Committee members. The application may be picked up at the Holcomb Building or downloaded from the following
website location: www.LOWA.org/EquestrianCenter. The application submission deadline is Friday, October 6, 2023. Instructions for submission are set forth on the application itself.
A Riding Lesson Scholarship would cover the cost of a block of five riding lessons (valued at $245) at the LOW Equestrian Center to be given by our qualified trainers who have extensive horse knowledge, great interpersonal skills, and dedication to the
job and horses. This project is being supported by Friends of Lake of the Woods (FLOW), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that raises donations to enhance community projects that are not budgeted by LOWA but have received the Board’s approval.
Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible contribution toward the Youth Riding Scholarship Program may do so by contacting FLOW. See https://friendsoflow.org/donate/. Or you may mail a tax-deductible donation to FLOW and request that they earmark your donation for the Youth Riding Scholarship
Program. Also, check out their Facebook™ page – FRIENDS OF LAKE OF THE WOODS.
