Creating Healthy Schools & Communities: Niagara Falls & Lackawanna NY Creating Healthy Schools and Communities is a 5 year initiative (2015-2020) funded by the NYSDOH awarded to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County

Creating Healthy Schools and Communities, funded by the NYS Department of Health, is a five year grant effort utilizing a coordinated, multi-sector approach to increase demand for and access to healthy, affordable foods and opportunities for daily physical activity to reduce the risk of chronic disease in high-need communities and school districts by:
* Increasing the healthful quality of foods of

fered for sale at local corner stores, vending machines, school food (lunches, snacks, vending, fundraising), worksites, farmers market and mobile markets.
* Creating and maintaining community landscapes conducive to physical activity by implementing aesthetic improvements, implementing complete streets policy and coalitions as well as working with worksites and schools to be supportive of physical activity.
