The People of Lockhart September meeting (this Tuesday, 9/1) will be hosting guest speakers responsible for Orange County’s Edgewater Drive Study. They will be sharing what they've learned so far and also seeking input from Lockhart stakeholders. This is a very important topic as it pertains to the future of our community. We hope you will join us.

Today is the day to cast your vote in person (if you did not already vote early or mail in your ballot.) We often refer to today as the Primary Election, which is traditionally where voters in each political party choose the candidate who will represent them in the November General Election. And that's part of what is happening.

But because Orange County races like County Commissioner and County Mayor are non-partisan, ALL of the candidates for those races are on today's ballot together. If no candidate gets at least 50% of the vote, the top 2 vote-getters will then move on to November.

The People of Lockhart cannot endorse or support any candidate, but we had a great conversation with all 5 candidates for District 2 Commissioner earlier this month: Kamia Brown for Orange County Commissioner, District 2 Mike Crabb for Orange County Commission District 2 Wes Hodge for County Commission Commissioner George Oliver lll for Orange County District 2 Marsha Summersill for County Commissioner

Please vote at your designated precinct before 7 p.m. This is one very important way to have your voice heard.

Learn firsthand about plans for the future of Edgewater Drive in Lockhart from planners who have been conducting a long-awaited analysis commissioned by Orange County.

The September People of Lockhart General Meeting will be here sooner than you think (Tuesday, September 1st, 6:30 pm at Lockhart Church.) Planners will be sharing what they have learned so far and seeking input from Lockhart stakeholders.

Edgewater Drive has been central to the life of the Lockhart community for well over a century. It was the 2nd road paved when Orange County voters approved a road bond issue exactly 100 years ago. What will Edgewater’s next phase - particularly as a designated Main Street - hold for Lockhart?

Work has begun on the extension of Clarcona-Ocoee Road from Edgewater Drive to All-American Blvd.

Originally scheduled to start in 2016, now that it’s started, it’s clear that we’re about to see some significant changes to the south Lockhart landscape.

Join the People of Lockhart for a Candidate Forum for Orange County Commissioner, District 2

When: Tuesday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Lockhart Church, 7601 Edgewater Drive

What: Join the People of Lockhart for a Candidate Forum to which all candidates for Orange County Commissioner, District 2, have been invited.

This forum will be a great opportunity to hear directly from the candidates seeking to represent District 2 on the Orange County Commission for the next 4 years. Candidates will discuss their priorities, share their visions for the district, and address issues of importance to the Lockhart community and surrounding areas.

Note: The People of Lockhart is a charitable organization that does not support or endorse any candidate for political office. The sole purpose of this forum is to provide information to Lockhart residents in a neutral and respectful setting.
