Today is national Gold Star Mothers and Family remembrance day. I am glad l got the chance to to attend a ceremony at the new VA Hospital in French Camp this moring. Shall we never forget, that the sacrifices of all service members doesn't end with them. If also affects there family.

While I was there I was honored to hand out about 10 coins, one was to a 101 year old Marine Corp vet, one of the last Raiders.

Shall we all remember and never forget.

When USAA first revealed the military members monument wall my name was not on it. Which I understand as they were actively going through millions of records to find and honor all the names that have served this great nation.

Because my name was not on the list they had a tab that you can click and add a name to be verified and then be displayed on the monument.

I did this process and now it is a part of the over 40 million other names of service men and women that have taken oath.

I am proud to announce that a huge milestone has been achieved today. I had the honor to hand out coin number 400. This veteran served our country with the USMC. It was nice to talk and reflect with him. He did fill out a memory on the Coinsforvets.org page. We are getting closer to our goal of a Veteran honor and memories book. We continue to believe that no vet should ever be or feel forgotten.

I have come across several videos of actors/celebrities sharing stories or memories of Veterans. One of the messages hit hard. A WWII Vet shared that after there service they took their uniform and medals and locked it away for over 50 years. Trying to put the past behind them. Then one day a story came or question was asked and they decided that from that day forward they would speak of their service, talk about the challenges they faced and keep the unknown or forgotten details alive. Not for them but for those that didn't make it home.

I feel it hit hard because I feel all memories, stories and experiences that our Veterans have gone through should be shared, should be remembered, and should be known.

Part of this Coins for Vets legacy project is hearing from the Veterans that have received a coin from us. What it means to them, and how for some reason they feel seen. On our website coinsforvets.org there is a link that goes to a Google Document. There you can share your story, memories, or your experiences. We are collecting these documents so that a book can been written to help keep the Veterans alive. Now the entries dont have to be of you personally it could be a family member or a friend. Anyone that you would want to be remembered.

Thank you to all that have served, you are seen and not forgotten.

Was honored to ba apart of the manteca fourth of July parade this morning. Got to ride on the float with Manteca Youth Focus Jubilee title holders as Elite Mr. Manteca. Great turn out and from the city and Happy birthday America. We look good for 250.

Had a great honor to watch 45 plus young men and women of achievement, compete in the Manteca Youth Focus competition Friday night, and two shows Saturday. This weekend MYF awarded over $17k in scholarships. All the kids did a great job, and should be proud of themselves . For those that dont know about Manteca Youth Focus they help mold and teach the youth to be a active positive member of the community. Congratulations to the 2026 captains and all star team. I hope your year in service is as meaningful to you as it is to the city you represent.
