With autism, they may not be able to step into our world, so it’s a privilege to bring music into theirs.” Spectrum Music Therapy, founded on June 28, 2024, is a community-based nonprofit organization serving Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan. Utilizing clinically proven music therapy techniques consisting of a combination of both educational and improvisational structures, we work to enhance the qua

lity of lives of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Exposing children and adolescents to different genres of music has been shown to:

1. Improve both verbal and nonverbal communication.
2. Soothe the bodies and minds of those with ASD through using purposeful song and movement. Here at SMT, we are honored to have the privilege to provide these programs which serve an ever-increasing need in our local communities. We are excited to announce that we are now pre-enrolling for music therapy sessions to begin approximately mid-fall, 2025! Please contact us if you're interested and/or have questions! If your family is in need of an interpreter, please let us know and we will be happy to provide one for you.

Did you recently enroll your child using our enrollment form? I'm not sure what happened with our form, but when we pulled this one up, there was no spot to put email or cell info, so now we are unable to connect to this family!
To respect privacy, and due to privacy laws, I cannot share much information, but this enrollment was completed on Nov 29. First name of participant and contact person: one begins with a V and one with an H. If this is you, can you PLEASE send me a message here or a quick email at [email protected] so I am able to get in touch with you as we plan our programs?
Thanks so much and thank you for your enrollment!!

Hi everyone! I just jumped on to write a quick post for three reasons before my bed and I finally meet again!

(SIDE NOTE: To any of our Spectrum Board Members reading this, please know I’ll be in touch tomorrow to make sure everyone’s caught up and on the same page.)

Okay, now for the three things:

1. I want to apologize for not being as active on here as usual. We have still been very busy, just more on the behind-the-scenes end of things.

2. Please keep your eyes out right here on our FB page during the rest of this week and through next week as we begin to unveil all that has been keeping us so busy behind the scenes.

3. We are proud to announce that we will be a vendor at Mercy Plus Autism Services’ Grand Opening event, this Fri, Aug 29th, celebrating the opening of their Farmington location! We will have a table set up, complete with updated information (including session roll-out plans!), goodies, yours truly, and our Secretary, Sheila, who brings life to every party, with a personality guaranteed to entertain! We would love to see you there! Here is the info flyer.

Big thanks to Mercy Plus for hosting us!!

And now, off to that bed! Goodnight, all!

The Arc Michigan has a webinar series coming up that will provide timely information and updates on these topics. I just signed myself up to attend and wanted to pass this along to you.
