Come and join us for an exciting Black History Program! You will be inspired and uplifted as our Smart Start boys, girls, and their mentors elevate the voices of great African Americans who have made a difference in the world. Grand Slam spoken word poet Lecroy Nixon of Williamsburg, VA, and LHS Vice Principal Quintese Kenner of Lancaster, VA, will bring us the gift of the spoken word. Multi-Award Winning recording Hip-hop artist, Jerrell Golden of Tappahannock, VA, will entertain and minister to our youth at a much-needed time in our community. We are thrilled to bring to you, The Story of Us. Invite a young person you love to come and experience a wonderful evening of creative talent and enlightenment. You won't regret it. We work hard for our kids. This is just one example of our ongoing dedication to motivating and inspiring the young people whom we have the honor to serve at Smart Start For Success Youth Empowerment.

Our Mother-Daughter Tea was a semi-formal affair, open to girls 7-19+ years of age and their mothers in the surrounding communities of Lancaster County. The tea was aimed at promoting self-love and building healthy confidence and self-esteem.

Here at Smart Start For Success Youth Empowerment, we are driven to do our part to improve the world starting with our very own community. Since 2017, we have taken part in a wide range of activities that empower students to reach for their dreams and true potential. We strive to motivate and offer them the beginnings of a life of success through exposure to culture and education.

It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. Smart Start For Success Youth Empowerment is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. With a variety of active projects and a dedicated, enthusiastic volunteer staff, we harness our skills and resources to successfully achieve our goals.

Smart Start for Success was founded by Pastor Donald Conaway as he saw the great need for mentorship in the community, particularly for underprivileged youth. Hugh Bobbitt, director, and academic counselor joined our organization in June of 2018 and began to set in place all the educational and life enrichment initiatives the program and our children needed. Since our founding in 1999, we have grown beyond the constraints of our congregation to advocate for the community at large. We are proud to witness how our activities have benefitted Lancaster County and beyond.

Thank you for your support as we continue in the ministry of uplifting the youth in our community and surrounding counties
