Network Map: You asked for it....and it's here.

Thanks to Jon, K5DVT, Arkansas AUXCOMM has this **BETA** version of its network map. Seen below is a screen shot, but you really should go to the website and try it out as it has a ton of information embedded. To control the map, go to the "gear" icon in the upper right and toggle some of the settings. There you can apply multiple layers that will help you learn about the network structure.

WHAT WE STILL NEED FROM YOU.....
There are some coverage inaccuracies because we do not have accurate antenna/height information for a handful of repeaters. Please have your repeater owners/trustees get in touch with us regarding repeater height above ground, antenna type, gain, and feed line type. We want our map to be as accurate as possible, but this first version makes a lot of assumptions that we would like to program out over time. Still, we wanted to get the map out to you as quickly as possible so you have a map to reference when severe weather strikes this season.

On this day in Arkansas weather history in 2023, a few EF3 tornadoes struck central and east Arkansas, causing significant damage to the Little Rock metro, and Wynne in Cross County.

As a reminder, Arkansas AUXCOMM has an official YouTube channel.

We have three videos posted at this time.

1. An introduction to the Arkansas AUXCOMM system, and particularly SKYWARN

2. A walk through of the AUXCOMM SOP for Spotters. Training that is the first of its kind for how spotters interact with the amateur radio net during severe weather.

3. SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training with Dennis Cavenaugh of NWS Little Rock. Dennis does an awesome job teaching us what we need to look for during severe weather.

More videos are on the way as we continue to build the SKYWARN program and beyond.

The threat of severe thunderstorms comes again tomorrow, Sunday March 15.

The “Convective Chronicles” YouTube channel put out a briefing about tomorrow’s threat just minutes ago and it does a great job summarizing tomorrow’s possibilities for high winds, hail, and a few tornadoes.

SEVERE WEATHER SUNDAY—A Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) across most of Arkansas and an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) across northeastern Arkansas for severe weather. A line of severe storms with damaging winds and a tornado or two within the line will be possible.
