Student Advocates for Safety

Student Advocates for Safety Create a safer community by promoting solutions that enhance and ensure pedestrian security throughout the local area.

Our first project for the team was to tackle the safety hazards of Browertown Road in Little Falls, NJ. Here is our mission statement: My Peers and I feel that there is a safety issue that should be addressed. We are concerned with the lack of a definitive sidewalk on Browertown Road between Passaic Valley Regional High School and ShopRite. This stretch of land represents a massive transit route

for many students attending Passaic Valley Regional High School and other residential use. The safety issue occurs because Browertown Road only has a usable sidewalk in front of four of the thirteen houses between the two locations. This missing sidewalk is a safety concern for both pedestrians and drivers who are trying to avoid people walking along the unpaved section. The simple solution would be to finish constructing the sidewalk on Browertown Road from Passaic Valley Regional High School to ShopRite. In addition, we feel that proper police on this street would help to reduce the outstanding speeding occurring daily. Furthermore, the addition of several road caution signs and a permanent electronic speed limit on this stretch of road can aware drivers of the dangers including a dip in the road at the back entrance of PVHS.
