Who are we?:
Up with School Arts has been supporting music and the visual arts in both public and private schools in RI's east bay and southeastern MA for over 18 years. Schools in our region have sharply curtailed their art programs due to budgetary contraints and loss of government support. Financial support from privately supported organizations, such as Up with School Arts and you, really do make a difference in the lives of young children!

How to support:
With your donation we can make this a great organization for our children. Up with School Arts is a 501-3C non-profit organization. Your check, whatever the amount, is most welcomed and is tax deductable. Please make check payable to "Up wih School Arts" and mail to: Up with School Arts, PO Box 204, Little Compton, RI 02837

How can I apply:
Arts teachers and administrators can apply for a sponsorship on our website upwithschoolarts.org

On Wednesday, November 5th, Wilbur & McMahon 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade students were visited by members of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra (NBSO). During the 50 minute presentation, students listened to several classical pieces played by a trio of a double bass, violin, and clarinet, all the while learning about the ocean currents. While they listened to these classical pieces with beautiful melodies that ebbed and flowed, they would see patterns on the screen showing the undercurrents of the ocean and surface waves which mimicked the flowing melodies of the bass and turbulent ascending and descending melodies of the clarinet. Who knew the ocean and music had so much in common!

The NBSO will be back soon for a classroom visit where they will work with 3rd and 4th grade students to learn more about the fascinating connection between the currents of our oceans and the music of our world. Support 'Up With School Arts' to help us sponsor this and other wonderful programs that allow students to learn about music and other arts in such a fun and unique way!
