Folks I’m seeing an alarming trend on Facebook.
Some folks have procured some coal and are offering it for sale to people with wood heaters.
This is very unsafe if you do not have a coal burning heater! COAL BURNS AT UP TO 1100 DEGREES HOTTER THAN WOOD!!!
Older heavy gauge cast iron may handle this type of heat, but modern pipe flies do not!
Please only burn what your heater is rated for. Every year there are house fires that are directly related to wood burning heaters.

Again. Anthracite coal does burn very good….but very hotly. Reaching temps up to 3500 degrees. Steel begins to melt at 2800 degrees.
Stay safe! And if your flue is starting to glow, close off all air to the heater.
