Way to go Lindsay 4-H Club kiddos.
Great work Heston, Hazen, and Gauge!!
Garvin County 4-H members competed on April 6th, 2026, in the Garvin County 4-H Meats Identification Contest, showcasing their knowledge of meat science while also participating in a newly added Livestock Skill-A-Thon contest.
The Meats Identification and Livestock Skill-A-Thon contests provide youth with valuable, hands-on learning experiences that build real-world knowledge of the agricultural industry. Through Meats Identification, participants develop skills in recognizing retail and primal cuts, understanding meat quality, and learning where food comes from. The Livestock Skill-A-Thon expands on this by allowing youth to apply practical knowledge in areas such as animal care, nutrition, equipment, and overall livestock management. Together, these contests help youth strengthen critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills while increasing their confidence and preparing them for future opportunities in agriculture and beyond.
